Need Advice/Help

Alright, well I screwed up running wires through my firewall and apparently grazed one or more wires while feeding them through. Check engine light = on.

So, I take it to Family Honda and they quote me $85 to repair. I opt to do the operation another day, and today was that day.

My dad took it in, and upon returning to pick it up, they call him and say it's gonna cost $400 to take the wires out and repair, possibly even replace, them. Is this ?

If so, where can I go to get a good job done to clean my gauge of the CEL? Thanks.

How did they quote you? Verbal? If so, your SOL. If its on paper, than show that and raise the flag on em. Thats what I would guess, either that or try to fix the problem yourself if you know what you hit.

if you know which wires then it shouldn't be that hard to solder or connect the wires back somehow.

I don't know which wires, and I think the paper work, if any, is in my car, which is currently sleeping over with the other Hondas at their service lot. Bah. Maybe other shops??...

do you know what the CEL is ? ... you can take your car to Josh's shop (japanese car specialties) and he'll clear the code for you and tell you what's wrong ...

btw ... NEVER take your car to the dealership if 1) your car has problems and 2) your car is modded and 3) you're not under warranty

any one of those is grounds for not going haha

whatever price they tell you, it is only an estimate. Most of the time you will see a disclaimer that says "we can only give an estimate. Due to cost of parts, labor, etc. the price may change".

That keeps them from saying "sure we will fix that wire for $50." and then have to install an entirely new engine harness for that same price.
