I Need Help! Please Read This!!!
I need to know if anyone knows a shop/person who can do reliable, quality work on our d17 engines. I need my engine swapped out of my car for a new/newer d17a2. I am out of a car and need it up and running so I don't loose my job. My civic is my only transportation. If anyone has any ideas please respond
Okay everyone here is my story.
I was driving home from work on Sunday afternoon and it was raining heavy. I could barely see in front of me even with the wipers on full blast. I'm driving maybe 30mph in the number 1 lane and head downhill under an underpass. A truck about a car length ahead of me splashes my windshield and I can see for a second. When my wipers finally clear the windshield I see that the street is completely flooded past the curb and the sidewalk. I have no time to stop and drive through it at like 25 mph. Water files all over the place and I hydroplane sideways. I make it through the flooded part and my car begins to shudder half way up the hill then dies and won't start.
I sat in my car with the hazards on for like 10 mins and try to start my car. Finally my car starts but there is a loud noise coming from the engine bay (valves clacking) I'm able to drive up the hill and right when I go to pull over BOOM! I hear metal hitting the ground and my engine grind to a halt. The oil light comes on. That's right, I threw a rod. There is a hole in my oil pan the size of a quarter!
Anyways my engine has been back to stock for a while including the air box so it's not like I was stupid and went playing in the rain with an intake. I gues the flodded street was just to much for the engine too take and somehow the water got sucked in through the air box.
By the way, I called may insurance and my comp DOES NOT cover flood damage if it is engine related.
