ALRIGHT REAL PROBLEM:

I'm building my new pc right now. Motherboard is a MSI KT3 Ultra2 (up to 2200+)w/ AMD Athlon XP 2600 chip. I'm using the hard drive that used to be on my other computer which was an Intel. I have a ATI Radeon 9200 128mb card 8x agp.

The problem: When I start up the comp there is absolutely no picture. The monitor stays in standby mode as if it detects nothing at all. At first I thought it was just the motherboard (which is an older model) that couldn't handle an 8x agp video card. Then I plugged in my even older TNT2 32mb Video card and it still didn't show up. Whats the problem? Is it just something wrong with the motherboard? I was about to go to Frys today to buy a newer MSI K7N2G motherboard for $100, but I thought I'd try to fiddle around with the comp a little more to see what the case is... My brother suggested that it may be the hard drive, because it is not yet formatted and was on an Intel Celeron based computer, and it wouldn't work with AMD, but I'm sure thats not the reason my screen isn't even showing up... Help me out buddy!
I had that same problem when i first purchased and installed my radeon 9800 pro. It turned out that my power source did not support the graphics card, so I ended up having to replace it with a higher wattage (if that's the correct term). Anyways, check how many watts your power source supplies, and make sure it fits the requirements of the card. I hope this helps.

sKwiD is on a distinguished road
Make sure that the processor is in all the way and no pins are bent. If you have another processor lying around, try it with that in case the AMD is fried, which I hope ain't. Check that the ZIF lever goes down with minimal force. Basically make sure it's on right. Does the fan on the power source turn on? If not check the voltage switch if applicable on the back of it. Also check that the right connections are made to the motherboards power pins. It can't be your hard drive because your motherboard is loaded with a BIOS ROM Chip so even without the hard drive you would see it load the BIOS program. Also a hard drive is partitioned into certain partitions that will work with any motherboard. The fact that the last motherboard was an intel and this is an AMD has nothing to do with the hard drive's configuration. Just for the hell of it, try testing it with another monitor too. When swtiching video cards on this kind of mobo be careful not to harm the lil capacitor by the agp lock. Let me know what happens, it's late right now and this is so far the obvious reasons I could think of. Good luck.
As far as I know the processor is fine... I'll try to bring it over to my friend's place this week and swap out parts to see if anything will change. All of the fans turn on. Its as if the computer runs fine, but I just don't get any projection on the screen. This is wierd... Oh well I'll play with it and tell you how everything goes, then maybe you can give me further suggestions. Thanks a lot bro! I appreciate you taking your time to read all that, haha

I think on the box of the case I bought it said either 400 or 450 watts, which I think is more than enough. What did you do? Get a new case with higher wattage?
