Cranks won't fire, mechanic can't figure it out
Cranks won't fire, mechanic can't figure it out
My 2004 Civic LX (automatic) cranks all day but won't start.
My mechanic went down the list, it doesn't appear to be a standard spark, fuel, or compression problem. He tested the cam sensor and said it was good. He visually inspected the computer and said it looked OK, but couldn't think of anything else he could do besides replacing the computer to fix it.
So the background. I replaced the brakes, then stupidly got in the car, fired it up, and threw it into gear without pumping the brakes back up first; the brake pedal went to the ground, the car started rolling, and I (again, stupidly) threw it into park while moving at less than 5MPH. Immediately after that the car would crank but not turn over.
My mechanic figured that this wouldn't have caused this situation, and that it was just a coincidence that things went bad after this mishap.
The other background is that just a few days earlier the mechanic replaced the rear cam seal plug/cylinder head plug, and to get to it he removed the EGR valve. Not sure if that might have anything to do with it.
Any other ideas? Am I stuck replacing the computer?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

My mechanic
Are the spark plugs wet?
What are the compression numbers?
Is it flooded?
Is it starved?
