Boost/HP
Boost/HP
I’m building a k20 to be a track/weekend driver.
i just want to know how much boost I can put to it and how much hp it’ll be able to make without it blowing up after a few months. I just want it to last a couple years without it blowing up.
The Specs:
Stock k20z3 block
Stock k20a2 Crankshaft
Wiseco Forged pistons 11.6 compression
Forged rods stock length
Drag Cartel Street Head
.030 head gasket

Re: Boost/HP
How much power are you looking for? K20 with forged bottom end will hold up to quite a bit. If on track, don't be revving it to the moon (for longevity).
From experience, 9 psi on my K24 makes 365 whp and 306 lb ft. It's too much for on track. Torque steer like crazy and the brakes give up after 10 minutes, even with a big brake kit. I usually detune to 6 psi.

Re: Boost/HP
Well I’m planning on reducing the weight in it as well. It’ll likely be a track car when I can make it to salt lake. I also planning on swapping my rear drum breaks with discs and front and back with both be on big breaks. So I’m thinking that I’ll likely do what you did and just keep it at low boost. Thank you!
Re: Boost/HP
They have a motorsports complex there that’s an actual track. I’ve thought about doing a light drag build but I like turns. It’ll also be in a couple road races depending on my work schedule.
