K20 EM vs ls VTEC swap EK hatch @ 9psi
K20 EM vs ls VTEC swap EK hatch @ 9psi
Cars:
My EM2:
-K20a2 engine
-I/RH/E
-Kpro dyno tuned
-2600lbs
EK hatch:
-LS VTEC swap (I think it is the B18B1???)
-ITR cams
-Custom turbo kit @ 9psi
-Custom exhaust
-hondata dyno tunned at 211 whp and 195 trq (same dyno I got the #s in my sig from)
-some suspension mods that may have added a couple of lbs over stock so I would say it weighed around 2300lbs
1st run from 2nd gear roll- The old K series pulled about 3/4 car right away, but then the boost kicked in on the EK beast and it pulled to about 1 car by 100
2nd run from a dig-The light turned green and the EK beast was sleeping at the light, while the K series was ready to go. Upon seeing that he was sleeping I lifted throttle in 1st until he was about 1/2 car back and gaining. We Went to about 100 or so and the EK hatch had about 1 1/2 cars.
I was having a ton of trouble hearing when to shift becuase both cars were so damn loud and he was shifting at different times than I was, so I was all screwed up. I don't think he drove particularly well either, sleeping at the light and all. No excuses though, I would say that the EK hatch was deffinately faster. He did run a 13.5 his 1st time at the track, with a 2.5? 60'. I don't feel to bad about the way things turned out. It is always fun to race two very nice sleeper Hondas

Well as I have said in previous posts this particular dyno is a bit low, so realistically I would say that he would be closer to 230-235whp on say a dynojet. The LS VTEC engine makes I think around 140-150 bhp (someone correct me if I am wrong). The cams would deff. benifit if it where NA, but boosted I am really not sure if they are doing him a favor. Honestly I am not to sure what that engine should be making. I do know that his tires, along with mine could not handle much more power.

But nice race!
I am just not a big fan of jetting down a 4 lane urban rd. while looking at the tach. Also a good shift should be feel and timming not watching the tach and then bam. JMO, maybe that is why my 1/4 mile times where not so good LOL. I think what I need is a good shift light, but I don't want one of those monster ones that are the size of a small flashlight. I would really rather have a very small inconspicuous one.
