raced: STi and s2k

Tonight I was out at a park hanging out with some friends and a STi rolled up that one of my buddies knew and we started talking and he just got the car about a month ago and has been looking for something to race. So sure enough we did a few rolls. First time we both had a pass.....we went from 40 and brake boosted......first time it sounded like he was shifting really slow and somehow i pulled about a car on him. I really didnt think my car could beat a STi so i asked to race again. This time I pulled about half a car on him 40-110...Then we raced 2 more times this time with no one in his car and 1 pass in my car. The 40 roll was even and a 65 roll was even as well and I pulled a few feet on him. I guess he says his car has a chip but I dont think i belive that part.

Then on the way home I got to play with a s2k. He had his top down and I passed him and gave him the ricer pshhh lol. I got infront of him and after traffic cleared I saw him go out into the other lane and punch it. It was about a 75 roll so i dropped into 3rd once he got to my back bumper and I pulled about 2 cars by 100 and shut down.

sti's arent highway pull cars, their advantage is from a dig...plus he just got his car and probably doesnt know how to launch/drive it yet...if his only mod is a chip, hes still not over 300...

the fact that it was a 40pull and a new car to him=your biggest advantage...

probably the only STi you will ever kill haha...WRXs you can hand their asses to them all day...savor the sweet sucess of your kill good job josh!!

people don't chip STIs they usually get somthing similar to hondata. There are a couple of different programs one of the more popular being Cobb. With a good tune (not just a reflash) an STI could put some serious hp to the wheels. The Cobb tune not only changes the air/fuel, but it ups the boost. I think that the only thing that limits the hp is the MAF sensor. As far as them being a pooch on the highway, I don't buy that. My friend has a 98 Legacy that has a full STI swap. Granted he has a full race header, up pipe, exuast, Cobb, and weights about 500lbs less than an STI. He pulls me like I am standing still on the highway and he never shifts out of 6th (or so he says LOL). Also watch out for the WRXs to it does not take much $ at all to make them beasts too. Another friend has a WRX with exhaust and Cobb (not tuned just a map that came with it), I am betting that it is a high 13 sec car, although we have not raced yet.

Yeah, and that is why I cannot wait to for my WRX to get out of warranty, so I can get my uppipe, downpipe, exhaust, and COBB installed!

Why?? Do you think that 12 psi should make more?? I think that with his kit tuned should get him 215-230whp, untuned then he is looking at 200-215whp. I see what you are saying though, that since he does not have #s then he is obviously not tuned.

yeah, street tuning is a fine art. There are actually people that just do highway pulls while dataloging to tune their Kpro. They really do a good job too.

Not if the WRX is modded. Especially the new 06 WRX. Stock hp, I put down 200hp and 215lb/ft at 10.5psi. With downpipe and catback (turbo back exhaust) I put down 219hp and 240lb/ft at 12psi. After the tune I am putting down 244hp and 289lb/ft at 18psi.

Innovative Tuning did a great job with my car, 2 hours of high way pulls got me to a nice 11.5:1 across the board.
