SVT Fockus
Ahh, the first run with the new tune and cams. Happened last night on my way home from the tune. I saw some blue HID style lights weaving in and out of the light traffic behind me @ 12AM on the 5 south.
After a while they caught up, and I could see some car (couldn’t tell what it was yet) hanging in my blind spot.
He sat there for a minute or 2, getting on my nerves, so I floor it in 1st to give him a bit of the ol exhaust note. That did it. I hear him drop gear and pass me up. At this point I saw that it was an SVT Focus. Lowered, with black rims he had at least an intake and exhaust.
As his rear bumper reached my passenger side door I dropped gear from 5th to 4th (I was doing 80MPH at the time and could have gone into 3rd, but Id only have 10MPH left in 3rd gear and I wasn’t too worried about getting beat). Immediately his pull stops. As the RPMS climb past 6000 I start to pull back on him. By 7000 He was at my rear bumper... then I REALLY started to pull. I kept on it in 4th gear, winding it out to redline at 8500RPM ( ~ 115MPH). By this time I had a good 3 car lengths on the guy.
This happened 3 more times on my way back from LA down into San Diego (I guess he was going even further south then I was), with the exact same results. Finally he kept back after the 4th time of getting his *** kicked. I put the cruse control back on and kept at 80MPH while he stayed good 5-6 cars back for the next 25 miles or so when I got off the freeway.
Not exactly the fastest thing out there, or even that good of a race, but its a good indication of how well the car pulls now seeing as how the SVT focus is about as fast as my car was when it was stock.
