SVT Focus vs Civic Ex

First of all i kow you guys are going to hate my login sn but i dont care what people think. the reason choose it was cause i love the ford focus svt. yeah, yeah, i know its a site for the 7th gen civics and all. But i didnt come here to diss anyone or anything but honestly this is the best site for 7th gen civic owners the i know off that everyone talks about there 7th gen civic like if its there life. so let me get on with this. i want to know which car would win in a street race the SVT Ford Focus or a Honda Civic Ex (both stock). okay lets compare the stats; focus (170hp) civic (127hp), focus (145 torque) civic (115 torque), both fwd, focus (DOHC) civic (SOHC), focus (2.0 liters) civic (1.7 liters), focus (10.2:1 compression ratio) civic (9.9:1 compression ratio), focus (6 speed manual) civic (5 speed manual), focus (2750 lbs) civic (2405 lbs), focus (160 mph speedometer) civic (150 mph speedometer), focus (Zetec) civic (V-Tec) {i think there both the same variable valve timing electronic control}. okay now you deside which car would win in a street race and on the track. i think that the SVT would win but i hear that the Civic Ex is pretty fast. im not taking anything away from the civic but i still think it would lose to an SVT focus.

Ps. GreenGoblin if you just finished reading this

SVT would win. Assuming that the car starts that day... hey, it's a ford

The svt would win but put it against a car that's on that type of scale like a RSX it would get beat down. Not to get on ford or anything but it may break down after 2nd gear. You have to put a 2.0 liter against a 2.0 liter engine.

exactly. but assuming drivers are equally skilled, the SVT would rape the EX by a full second.
I just dont trust the focus after all the recalls and safety investigations.................SVT is a nice car though.

Ture the ford may break down and all, but I would rethink your question. Why are you comparing two cars in totally different classes?

SVT would win, but you're comparing apples and oranges here... perhaps you should rethink your matchup before posing such a rediculous question.

comparing a SVT with a civic EX simply isn't right. compare it with a SI hatch, which would be a pretty close race. the civic EX should be on par with a focus ZX3. in that case, the civic should be able to take the ZX3 down because it has better gear ratios.

If the focus doesnt break, it will be all about the driver.

put 2 cars from the same class and see what you have. from the specs you posted, it would probably be a close race, coming down to the driver. if you put an Si next to the SVT though, the honda would take it.

I've seen one SVT focus at the track. Racing a Sentra SER Spec-V, it was a drivers race. Both cars ran about a 10.3-10.4 in the 1/8th mile. I would say the SVT would win pretty much hands down against the Civic EX, probably against the new SI also.
