04 EX vs. 5.9 R/T Durango

So my EX is a 5 speed, all i have is an AEM short ram intake. My buddy has a R/T durango with a air filter, its also a 4x4....We ran twice from a dead stop.

The first run, he put it in his 2-wheel drive setting....i launched from 3k. Got him off the line, and by 3rd gear i was a full car and then some in front of him and kept running away....

The second run, he put it in 4x4....i launched from 3k again. He was a lot closer this time of the start, i had about a fender in front. By third gear, i got about 1/2 a car on him and he sat next to me. I told him we need to go top end, but i think his truck is governed at a lower speed.....if i run him high end, ill let you all know...

But as for the R/T durango's, dont fear....unless they are highly modified, or your not a good driver...does anyone know the hp/tq of the durango?

wow nice kill man. I thought the truck would own from a stop though, since trucks are designed for a lot of initial torque for towing purposes. I guess the weight is really killing him there. You would probably own him more on the top end, since trucks can't rev that high.

wonder how you would have done if it was the hemi version??? I have raced a hemi ram on the highway for a short while I was pulling from 65-85, but only put a car or two on him and then had to slow down because of traffic.

Gearing has to do with top end, revving doesnt matter. An ITR redlines at like 7800rpm, but a 350Z would win on the highway. It's all gearing.

Oh yeah, i forgot to mention he's got 20's on his truck too. The day he got it, we messed around and he was right with me...but i know ill have him top end. His last truck governed at like 115, and i know im good for about 120-125. But needless to say i was shocked my lil honda held its own

fine, if you wanna be picky about it. I thought he would get owned because trucks are geared more toward a lot of initial torque. He would probably win on the top end, because the truck is more geared to torque not top end speed.

Yeah, they're really not that all fast. People see the R/T and are like
But its a heavy truck with only 250hp. Hell, the New Nissan Frontier has more than that in stock form.

the only thing thats wrong about your story is that the r/t durango has no 2wd option it is a all time 4 wheel drive vehicle with the r/t package.....

Durango R/T's include:

- Performance-tuned front and rear shocks
- P275/60R17 tires
- 5.9-liter 250-horsepower Magnum V-8 engine
- Limited-slip rear differential
- 3.92:1 rear axle ratio
- Sport-tuned exhaust
- Reprogrammed engine control module (2000 MY)
- Full-time four-wheel drive t-case
- 17x9-inch aluminum wheels (2000 - 2001 MY)
- 17x9-inch chrome wheels (2002 - 2003 MY)
- Two-tone R/T embroidered leather/suede-trimmed seats
- Suede door trim panels
- The trailer tow package wasn't standard on the earlier R/T models, but was standard in 2002 and 2003.
-the R/T's all have chrome exhaust tips

- colors all of them are monotone
2000 - Flame Red, Bright Platinum Metallic, Patriot Blue Pearl Coat and Black
2001 - Dark Garnet Red, Frame Red, Bright Silver, Patriot Blue, and Black
2002 - Flame Red, Bright Silver, Atlantic Blue, and Black
2003 - Same as 2002

basically your buddy is lying to you and has a 5.9 liter SLT because they do or hes converted his transfer case over, because stock they are full time all wheel drive
