04 altima 6spd
Tonight I was dropping my girl off and with my girl in the car I was making a turn with an altima right behind me. This is middle of no where around 10 30 onto a long ramp onto the 5. Altima passed me by and fooled with me for a bit staying behind me and jumping right beside me. I thought it was 2.5 model and so I jammed it. He definately caught up side to side cuz he was fooling with me staying behind me. I was going slow maybe 30-35 max. I downshifted from third to second and floored the car. He picks up next to me and usually by end of 2nd I spray nitrous the whole third if I even need that much(85mph). Right before shifting to third, I see his se-r badge. It was brand spanking new with dealership liscense plates. So I shifted to third and nossed it and went to about 80 and he was taking the lead. As I shifted to fourth he had like a car on me so I quit. If I couldnt take him third then I couldnt take him all the way. I didnt really think he would go that far. My gf was scared to death but luckily she was cool about it cause we were the only two cars around atm.
I didnt even know se-r altimas existed til Ichecked... now I know. I thought his was around 240 hp like the accords but is faster.

Then i went home and looked on the interweb. Did you guys know the GTR is gona come to USA? Now that nissan is gona OWN ALL.

i saw an SE-R altima at the auto show. such a waste. has 265hp out of the 3.5L (basically maxima engine) so only about 25 ponies more than the 3.5L altima motor. and 18" wheels, which aren't gonna do much for speed... granted the brakes were nice but i wouldn't dish out the cash for a little badge and brakes.

Altima SE-R base model = 6spd, fwd, 260hp, $29,300 MSRP
350 Z base model = 6spd, 287hp, rwd, $26,700 MSRP
G35 sedan base model = 6spd, rwd, 298hp, $30,600 MSRP
BMW 3251 = $29,300 MSRP
Accord V6 EX coupe = 6spd, fwd, 240hp, $26,950 MSRP
WRX STi = 6spd, awd, 300hp, $32,295 MSRP
... I don't think an Altima SE-R would be at the top of my list for that price range.

especially for a nissan. Nissan doing real bad, thats why they let you take a new car with no credit and no down payment. SO when you see a nissan you know they didnt have the money for a civic =X

nissan's turnaround has been amazing. comparing imports, they offer a good HP per dollar.
a regular v6 altima MSRP is 23250. better than the accord, same HP, granted accord has 6 speed, but still 2000 more for one extra gear. comparing an SE-R to a base accord, yeah it looks bad b/c you do pay for the name and styling. if they made an a-spec accord model, it would cost more than the se-r altima guaranteed. just playing devils advocate to those trying to rip on nissan.
