I was driving along minding my own business when i hear the sound of pure automotive sex driving along side me. (the VQ block has the sweetest sound possible for anything under 100 grand) The guy notices me looking at him and he backs off, drops gears and takes off - flying by me. I catch him at the next light where he jumps the greenlight and takes off again.

Third light now. I shout over to him "Dude you're wasting your time tryin to get me to race - I can't win. Stop hating on the little guy!" And he responds, "Just having fun!" as he starts doing a burnout in anticipation of a greenlight. He zooms off again in a cloud of white haze.

I just don't get it. was he trying to impress me? It was a stock Z with maybe an intake and exhaust. stock height, no kit, no system. Especially me driving a civic. was he thinking "look at me i spent more money than you did!"

i dunno... man (insert fighting words here) LOL im not a fan of rotary engine sounds... its too much like a sport-bike... the high pitched scream. I mean - it sounds great, but i prefer the throaty off-beat lump of the VQ

Mm, the VQ does sound damn amazing, but the rotary sounds good when you get the damn into the higher rpms. I've seen vids of rotaries being revved pretty damn high, theres nothing to really break, everything just spins in a circle faster, no reciprocating parts.

how much base hp does the 350have? most turboes on here are only running 5-10psi daily driven and thats going to get you between 140-200 ish top end maybe.

i dont think thats neccessarily true. yeah over all the civic will still have lest power.....but how the power is distributed makes all the difference. different gearing, weight, and most of all the driver decided the outcome. i would have plenty of confidence in a well boosted vic. not just 5-6 psi but 10-12. itd be a good race nonetheless. vics will suprise everyone when least expected.

That would have to be one hell of a run, car and driver could only get a 14.3 out of a stock touring. I know that mag #s are not that acurate (car and driver guys tend to suck), but the same guys ran a 14 in a S2K and a 14 in a GTO both of which run high 13s themselves showing that a stock 350z is slower. So I say low 14s/14 flat for most drivers. maybe high 13s for a good driver

Turbo/Supercharged Civic would take or at the very least give a stock 350z a run for its money... Heck any car can be modded to take on any other car.. just depends on how much money you want to spend... I went the Supercharger route with my 2000 prelude. Time I got done with my prelude I dumped about $18k into it... For about the same price you can have a 350z coupe with the same performace and not worry about your engine blowing up

As far as the guy in the 350z, your always going to find @ssholes regardless of what car they drive that want to show off.... I get guys with sup up cobras that try and race my 350Z Roadster... Im like ya right, I know when Im beat... I just give them a nod at let them make a fool of themselves as they smoke there rear wheels and take off racing themselves...

Reminds me of that commercial for the Ford Thunderbird... A guy in a thunderbird pulls up to the light and next to him is like a Ferreri. The guy in the Ferreri makes his girlfriend get out of the car so she can wave her scarf or whatever it was so they could race. The guy in the Ferreri takes off in a bloom of somke coming from his rear wheels, but the guy in the thunderbird just sits there and opens his passenger side door so the girl can get into his car and he then slowly pulls away.... classic

The problem is that comparing mag times is like comparing dicks, it proves nothing and everyone thinks you are gay for doing it. I am just throwing out a # that C&D came up with and comparing it to the #s they got for the S2000 and GTO and saying that both cars are faster than a Z. A boosted civic at 8psi does not do to bad of a job keepin up with either cars, so I say a drivers race.
