Overrevved way past the limmiter...
WEll, I was on the top of 3rd gear at about 6800, and then I accidentally shifted into second! I think the rpms went way past 8500, but nothing happen (knock on wood)
. Anyways, I let off as soon as I saw, it was not even for a second. Could there be anything wrong?!? It drives fine, but I am worried about fried pistons or vavles. I checked, and the head gasket has no leaks that I could find for now. What do you think?

fhheeeew, no ticking noises I think. Well, I want to take it to Honda and have them hook it up and see what I actually revved to? Wonder if it is a bad idea?

You should be ok. If you were in 4th and went to 2nd, then there would be a problem. You will kill the engine and computer if rpms go over 10 or 11000 rpms. Just be more careful next time.

Hmm... I have never done anything like that, but wouldnt the fuel cut keep the engine from going over 7500 RPMs? And the computer doesnt lock the shifter from entering 2nd??

well, it seems fine. I never gave it gas, I actually just let it grip the high rpms (accidentaly of course) and threw the clutch in faster than a fat man running from healthy bar. bad joke. ANyways, shift at 9200, bc that is what I hit. The dealer hooked it up, and said it was impressive but dangerous. I still have a warranty, wait, nope, the no2 is there.

Let's hear it for VALVE FLOAT
It's times like this when you should be VERY happy that you have a low displacement 4 cylinder engine with lightweight parts. Because if you did that to most other cars, you would float a valve faster than you could say "oh sh*t".

back when i first got my car, i raced some kid in a 95 civic with altezzas and a few tv's, i was beating him thru 2nd, thru 3rd, went to shift to fourth and accidently went back into second, i was speechless because i've never heard my car scream like that before. I pulled over, listened to it for a minute or two, decided nothing was wrong, and that was the first and last time that will never happen. Its been well over a year and the only problem my car has had was a defective tranny.
lol K20 yes it was defective, there was a faulty "throttle release bearing" and the transmission needed to be replaced. Honda took care of it under warrenty only because i looked in the extended warrenty booklet and saw that the part they were talking about was covered
dood, i let a friend of mine drive my car, and he hit red line first, second, third, then went back to second
, i knew he could drive stick, but he screwed up terribly this time. ever since then he hasnt driven my car again, anyways, i saw the needle go soooo far past the 8 grand mark, if u were looking at a clock the hand was at about six o clock, crazy, but my engine was fine, no smells weird noises. so i pulled his *** out of the car and drove the rest of the way home.
