Re: SE7ENZEROTWO Project Civic
I know the Ek hatches and base coupes use the smaller rotors, not sure if I've ever seen the smaller rotors on a sedan.
As for the different cluster, you bought someone's project (read headache) I'm sure you'll find all sorts of surprises as you dig deeper
Not sure how I didn’t notice that sooner. One of your videos literally shows that it’s a VTEC head.
I know. I feel like an idiot for not noticing.
Now that the new oil is doing pretty well after some driving and the coolant seems do be doing good, i'm going to start at the VTEC solenoid gasket. A good possibility is that it's gunked up.
Once thats done and if VTEC is activated/healthy, I'm going to make sure the engine is in good shape and possibly go with a xenocron OBD1 ECU with a OBD1 conversion. That way I'll have a better basemap for my intake/exhaust and activate VTEC at 5K RPM.
I'd be surprised if it wasn't consuming at least a little bit of oil unless it's a pretty fresh engine. I've never seen a D-series that didn't burn oil to some capacity.

Re: SE7ENZEROTWO Project Civic
The two I have ($500 '99 beater with 400k kms and '00 Coupe) don't. Knock on wood.
Royal purple is a waste of money in my opinion. Especially on a bone stock engine. But you do you.

I'll just call me and my buddies unlucky. My buddy's EM2 Si threw a rod because it was burning approximately 2L/100km and mine burns approximately 1L/1000km. Even my EG with 200k on the engine burned a ton. Never drove it enough to get a real idea but it was the worst one that I've owned.
+1 on the Royal Purple though. It'll make no difference.

Oil level remains consistent with how much more i've been trying to drive it.
Royal purple was $6 a quart, instead of $40 at the auto parts store.
Royal Purple has "levels" I guess you call it. The stuff they sell at WalMart for $6 a quart is their basic oil. They do make a higher quality racing oil that is more inline with Amsoil or Redline but that is way overkill for a NA D series.
You can save money on the filter next time tho. An OEM or WIX will do ya good.
In this update, I got the VTEC solenoid rebuilt and the gaskets inside changed. This cleaned up the oil flow and fixed an oil leak coming from the main, screened seal.
All the seals inside were hard and starting to rot (similar to dry rotting), so the new seals saved the day! and only for $8!
VTEC does engage. The new oil is still looking fantastic (and hopefully cleaning the engine out)
But this might be the last update for a week or more mainly due to my work schedule and such. Today was my day off and I had plans to work on the car today, but a friend called me over last minute and I wasn't going to say no, sooo....
The car is coming along! Hoping to be finished with it by the end of the month. Then the serious driving will start.
Well, the mechanical part of fixing the car is about 90% done, so now were moving onto the cosmetic part. Headgasket had to undergo some testing and it's all 100% and the compression tests came up good. Unfortunately, the obd1 and tune is not happening due to the budget being allocated elsewhere. It was a fun idea, but expecting to pay $600-900+ for a small improvement isn't worth it. I'd rather keep it how it is.
The trans fluid was changed, and was not recorded. I got to use someone's lift and it made life easy for sure. However, the folks there made me feel pretty uncomfortable and I won't be going back. (We're sticking to jacks!)
We're looking to finish up the project within a month, actually. After that, it may be some small things. But the content and some creativity is coming!!
In this update, we clean up the intake a bit and help the civic breathe better.
Things are getting on track and I'm doing the big project on the 5th. It will be an all day thing and I hope to be as indepth as possible. The blue civic will be turning red on a super budget!
(Other supplies are coming in, but I've tested the color/clear combo. This has gotten better results that other paints and is the least resistant to orange peel, running, streaking, etc. I'm expecting an excellent turnout! But this will be the last you see of the paintjob for a while.)
I took the car out for a stress test (about 100-150 miles) and learned of an electrical gremlin that kills the car once you turn it off after a long drive. I'm currently ironing it out, but until it's figured out, the car is limited to around town driving. Roadtrips are out of the question right now.
In prevous updates, I attempted to knock out the stains using a rug doctor, but that didn't work as planned. So in this update, I fix that for $7 and breathe some new life into the interior. The result actually came out better than expected.
In the next update, we're going to brighten things up a bit with a conversion.
But also and intro for an update that's up in the air, I needed to try it myself on some interior pieces before I do a hands on video because what I did was super messy. as a way to uniquely recondition some plastic pieces in the interior, I went ahead and flocked them. Flocking is applying suede microfibers (the same soft materials that are inside jewelry boxes and pool tables). I did this on the gear shifter and e-brake plastic housings and it came out fantastic! The pictures don't do it justice, and it's super soooooooft. This was done for about $40, and I have the capacity to do many many more pieces with leftover materials! Once I have some time in the future, I'm going to do an easy to follow (and easy to do) flocking video. It's actually super easy!
The new crown bag and Mugen 5 speed carbon fiber **** work well with it.

I had to take a bit mainly because I went to go see Friends and Family in jax, enjoy the 4th, and painting the Civic was a bigger challenge than anticipated.
The reason why painting the Civic was such a big issue was because of where I could paint it and the weather conditions here in FL. It was a constant battle to rush against the weather before it rained every day, and super frustrating since it just rained all day certain days, along with my work schedule just sucked. Finally had a few days where I just stuck it out and I finally have an end result. Now, it didn't turn out exactly how I expected it to mainly because I simply had no choice but to rush it. So the quality in the end result kinda suffered. I still have to clean up trim pieces, get the inside of the trunk, and the door jambs. But even though with how it came out, I've never even dared to do such a thing nor have I even tried. This is 100% done myself only for $225. (Thats the paint cans, clear coat cans, and all the tools/accessories.) and I'm actually proud of myself as someone who doesn't have one clue of what I'm doing.
Anyway, here's a sneak peek of the driveway paintjob. The red actually cleaned up pretty well.
But onto the video update, we did an LED conversion!!!
Blinkers blink faster than a tweaker, headlights are bright, and it's actually nice to drive at night!
Holy glare batman. That beam pattern looks like doodoo
Also, install a load resistor (or 4, depending on what load resistors you get) or replace the flasher relay to get rid of ricer hyperflash
I'm also with Chezboat on this one, I liked the blue.
Glare isn't bad in person, and the beam pattern is actually level. What you see is the fog lights ontop of the headlight beam pattern.
No plans to install a load resistor. Don't really care. If anything, it will hopefully capture the attention of those who are inattentive behind the wheel.
I was forced to sell the civic since Life came at me hard recently and it's going to be a good while before I get another project car.
I'll be posting the last vid soon, but I'm also trying to see what kind of direction I want to take my channel too.
Possibly some crazy rallies in my Camaro like the corsa rally.
This is the last and final video that never came out. While I had a 20-30min paint video, I decided to go against it due to the circumstances that happened.
It's unorganized, but it gives a glimpse at how it was turning out near the end.
