Here is my kinda build thread. So far not many mods. But here we go.
It's been a while since I posted. Been so busy. Here is what's going on right now.
I got myself a cheap set of near new DC5R rear knuckles, which include the rotors, calipers, e brake cables, brake lines etc.
My question is, does this bolt right up to the EM2 chassis like say the DC5 base do?
I've done tons of searching and gotten many different answers to the question. Things I know:
- The DC5R rear knuckles have an addition +15 offset to accomodate for the Type "R" wheels. Also to match the fronts which need the additional room to house the Brembo rotors. Therefore a 15mm spacer is necessary to even out the wheels since I have RSX Base front knuckles.
- The DC5R rear caliper is slightly larger, and holds more fluid than say an EP3 or DC5 Base or type "S".
- The overall knuckle size is rumored to be bigger. However, I'm finding tons if mixed information.
- The type "R" uses a different proportioning valve. I'm hoping the EM2 one works fine.
RSX E - Brake cables are not a direct fit on the EM2. They are too short, the passenger side has an extra bracket, and one does not line up, and the drivers side the last bracket before it enters the cabin does not line up properly. I currently don't have 3 brackets hooked up but the e-brake works well. Once the weather gets nicer I'm going to either replace with EP3 e brake cables which are supposed to be direct fit from what I've read or find a better way to make these work.
If they don't work I have a line on some RSX base knuckles that I can easilly obtain and install. However, I'm going to have some fun with this
For those interested... Here are some fun pictures of the soon to be 5 lug/rear disc conversion:

Finished the fronts today. I'm experiencing some positive camber issues that I cannot seem to resolve. Going to get the camber kit and get an alignment afterwards. Most of the pictures are of the camber issues, and I have the snows on right now. I'll get pictures of the 17s later.

Hopefully next week. Going to see what I can do about spacers to make the wheels even. Then hopefully I won't need a camber kit lol. Ordered a camber kit for the front will be doing a full alignment on it on monday.

The car is pulling quite a bit to the right under acceleration. No pulling when coasting, and pulling to the left during braking. I've got camber issues for sure

Fusion. To remove the front knuckles.. check my ball joint DIY thread. That pretty much explains exactly what you need to do the front swap.
Just remember, your old rotors will not work with the 5 bolt setup so make sure you have some 5 bolt rotors. Also, MAKE SURE YOU GET RSX BASE knuckles I can't stress that enough because the Type "S" have a bigger spindle/axle which means that your civic axles will not spline into the type "S" bearing/knuckle.
If you want to do a type "S" brake swap it's pretty easy. Just get yourself some Type "S" calipers + brackets, also get type "S" pads and rotors and they bolt on to the RSX base knuckle without any problems. The only thing to consider is you need 16" or bigger wheels, 15" will not clear the larger calipers. It's a big brake improvement over the civics stock. You might also need new master cylinder, prop valve but I'm not totally sure. There is a pretty good writeup on this on a different forum.
The rear type "S" knuckles/bearings are exactly the same as RSX base model so they will work. I've done tons of research on this so if anyone has any questions regarding the conversion ask away.

Thanks for the info. Would the type S work if doing a K24 swap? Planning on sticking a K24A2 in the civic. Want to start building up the necessary parts soon.

Yes type S knuckes will work with the k24 swap... Just make sure your using RSX type "S" axles not civic axles.

So, I order a camber kit from Napa the other day. For the fronts, and it only comes with one side!?? One bolt! not two. I was totally confused by this. I had to order another camber kit. Ordered another hopefully it will be there at 12:30 alignment is at 1 today. Here are some pictures of the install with the wheel removed.

The rears are insane... I did the first side in around 2 hours without any issues at all. Everything went very smooth. The other side however. Has proven to be a nightmare! First, the wheel sensor hookup is different, its actually in the wheel well not in the trunk. When I went to unplug it the entire connector came out in my hand (grr). I continued on my merry way figured I'd take care of it later. Then, I went to remove the camber bolt (Big one from the bottom, where it hooks onto the trailing arm) from the car and I couldnt get the bolt out. I was smashing it like nobodies business and it just did not want to give. Ended up destroying the bolt. Had to cut it out with a hacksaw. Put the saw between the bushing and the trailing arm. It took me about 3 hours to remove this bolt becaue I don't have access to a torch . Finally got the bolt only to find out that Honda and nobody else carries it in stock. Nobody, and it's on backorder. Went to the junkyard and got a new connector and managed to get a bolt out of one of the cars. Needless to say I'm about 8 hours into it and the car is again sitting on it's own weight. Still need to bleed the brakes and hook up the E brake cables inside the car. Also need to complete the connector fix, have to splice the wires to make it work. Overall, a crazy project but I had fun doing it. Just wish the second side only took 2 hours like the first. I'll post some pictures soon. I took a few along the way.
The RSX Type "R" knuckles stick OUT more than the OEM ones we have. Which means I'm currently running -15 offset on the rear tires. They stick out about a half inch more than the front. Looks pretty badass, but I need to lower the car badly lol!!! Another future project!

Here are pictures.. The wheel gap is not that big... I haven't driven it so nothing has adjusted home yet. Ignore how dirty the actual car is.. lol... That's just from driving it to work and home 2 times.

just as heads up, the ABS will take care of the pressure front/rear. no need to worry.
so, you mentioned that the front camber issue was actually some rocks left in the assembly?
not trying to be an *** (seriously), but i guess that bolt that was stuck is the toe adjustment bolt

Yea I knew about the ABS system. However I need to make sure that it's actually plugged in since I have a connector with no wires in it lol. And yea your right that's a toe adjustment bolt lol. Hopefully I can get it all assembled tomorrow so I can drive it to work. But there is a few hours of work left to do I bet. It was rocks but not entirely. The alignment is okay now but it required a lot of camber adjustment to the front left.

All that wood you see is from trying to smash that bolt out. I was trying to hit the wood instead of directly on the bolt to save the threads.. HAH.. Turns out even smashing directly on the bolt as hard as I could wouldn't make it move

Sooo... Took the car for a ride to work today (80kms each way). One of my wheels rubs the fender... Not ridiculously bad just when I hit big bumps. It's running +30 offset with the type "R" knuckles. For whatever reason, the rear left is sitting a quarter inch lower than the rear right. This is what's causing the wheel to rub... This 5 lug swap is turning out to be more work than I wanted. I'm going to get an alignment and see if that corrects the rub. However, I don't know why one wheel has so much more clearance than the other. The three other tires have about the same clearance except for the one. If an alignment does not fix it I may need new shocks as that one may be sagging. The other option I have is to get RSX Hub + Bearing and install it on the type "R" knuckle, which would return the offset to +45 and would eliminate the rubbing issues altogether for sure. This would not fix the issue of the rear left running lower than the rest of the car
