Rep Power: 234 help a newbie out please! (lip kits)
currently my 01 coupe is all stock and I wanted to lip kit it up, but I also drive across big and small dips and speed bumps, and even have to go past a concave dip like thing in the alley way to slow down cars, sort of like a dip but cars go through it very very slowly (for water run off?), daily and would like to know how much the aero side skirt and especially front bumper would take away from current factory clearance and if that would be problematic to me? If anyone else can reccomend me other lip kits and bumper kits that wouldbe ideal as well. My car's suspension is factory and i dont plan to lower it.
my car is black, so does that mean i dont have to paint the kits?
and if anyone has a black car with black wheels and pictures that would be nice too. I just need reccomendations on products and types and where to get them, basically some guidance because im a super noob
I also have a hard time seeing/judging how much space is between the back of my car to someone else's car, would adding a rear spoiler help me make better judgement? Thanks

I seriously don't recommend putting a lip kit on a unlowered car, it well looks tacky. What you should do is take the 800-1000 your planning on dropping on a lip kit and get yourself a nice set of coilovers! Ksport, Tein, JIC magic....blah blah there is a list on here of all the coilovers avail for your year.
you can adjust your height so if your rubbing on stuff when you slam her, you can bring her back up.
no a wing is not going to help your depth perception, contacts might, or lazer surgery, but a ricer wing is only going to make people laugh at you behind your back as you drive away. unless your fully modded, but still maybe even then...

the kaminari lip kit always looks nice. and please. lip kits on "un lowered" cars does not look tacky. maybe for extreme racer up there but alot of cars come from the factory with lip kits and they still look nice. its all up to u. i dont understand why u would recomend to him coilovers when he's asking about clearance issues. that makes no sense to me.
the factory aero lip kit looks to me, lower than usual. i have a pic at the bottom of the red car with the full aero kit on stock suspension. just to get u an idea of how it wil look liek and maybe u can judge how the dips will take it. careful driving and taking the dips at an angle always helps.

thanks a lot the pictures helped me get a better idea.
Does anyone have any issues with dips on unlowered lip kitted cars?
and I'm not going fo ran all rice radically lowered car, but more of a custom look but not a hassle to drive. Would it be safe to assume that official OEM honda kits like aero would not fall off if run into a dip too hard? Anyone just put the side skirts and back bumper but not the front? The front seems a bit low to me compared to my old corolla. Thanks for your help, i really appreciate it

no... no probs... there is like one hill in my town thats hard to get down....
you can put extra screws in and mounts on the kit... i have done it jus so that i can ride without worrying about it... it keeps my mind feeling better ....
ive bottomed out my front end a few times... and ive run into a few parkin blocks... the kit allways holds up.. had a few scratches... and the bottom side of my kit is a little roughed up...
im lowering about an inch to an inch and a half... to reduce wheel gap.... and i shouldn't have anymore real problems

haha yeah I kinda thought the same thing about the smoke...and im a smoker. but yeah back on topic. I just threw in the suggestion about the coilovers because like a said, if its too low, then you can bring her back up. I am speaking from experience here, cause I got my car off the lot with the OEM kit, and yes it does look nicer with it, but everytime I looked at it, I just wished I didn't have wheelwell gap! but you know everyone is different. and ultimately it is your car, I am just trying to steer you in, what my opinion of the right decision is. When you drive your car you will not notice a performance increase with a lip kit, but you will notice a performance increase with coilovers...just makes it more fun to drive. I understand you being a little aprehensive about scraping, but as long as you take it easy over gnarly **** then you will be fine. The roads right now in Tempe AZ are so F'ed its not even funny and I rarely scrape and I am slammed!!!
My setup is CF mugen front lip, and oem sides and rear, which I may upgrade later cause I hate the rear end...but blah blah blah
here is a pic bro...

yeah man I think that the carbon is fairly durable. I live in az so I dont have to worry about ice and snow and all that bs. So as long as I drive slowly over bumps I dont rub, and the few times that I have it just scuffed the bottom of it. I will admit that Carbon will crack under pressure, when it was delivered there was a small crack on the bottom, and when I installed it it cracked alittle on the corner, all unnoticible and I keep checking them and they dont seem to have gotten bigger. Its all how you drive a car with a lip, not necisarily the lip itself.
I paid 180 + shipping 100 on ebay for the MG lip, so about three hundred and I am very pleased. you can either get a seibon, or nin...I believe they are the only mfgrs of real cf mg's
