Well at least you learned from your mistakes. You should have seen my headlights when I shot em. Like a smart guy I grabbed and then dropped it while it was tacky. Lets just say wet sanding was my life for half a day lol.

i painted my heat shield with high temp paint and it burned alittle bit, it didnt actually burn off, but i could smell it burning for awhile.. maybe because though i didnt let it dry long enough before i drove the car.. its fine now though, the paint is still on and it doesnt smell/burn anymore.

revo ss, intake, grill, and the other **** you talk about are straight forward and are basic things that anybody with apposable thumbs could do. he's just sayin that you should read up on things so that you have an idea of how to do things before you do them blindly.
i know lol.. leave him alone if he doesnt get it right by the 3rd time.. then you can bash on him.. you learn from your mistakes.. people are better then other people at different things.
Good choice of color. I painted mine the same, but if you do not use clear coat, it can accumulate dust, and oils making the surface rough like mine. Good thing you can start over easily though..
yes you need to sand before you primer. then sand the primer then realistically primer again and sand again then paint then sand then paint then clear. its a process. if you want it to look good take your time. i did the interior of my s10 and it took a bunch of sanding and primering to fill in the texture. you can find a filler primer as well so you dont have to primer and sand soo much. but you still want to have a clean smooth surface before you decide to paint. i used about 10 coats of clear on my interior to ensure that thick glassy look

put it this way
you shoulda sanded the valve cover with 600 grit and water before priming (you didnt even need to prime) after sanding with 600 grit you could just spray it with bulldog adheasion promotor and than spray going back and forth with a 50% overlap about 6-8 inches away...

I did mine hi temp ford red and clenaed the plastic with alcohol, I didnt sand or prime. After a few years, it still looks good and I always clean it with window cleaner. I have a EX but I have a spare LX one laying around incase I wanna go sleeper, ha ha!

ok, i waited an hour between each. maybe too long? idk. it don't matter. the thing is being stripped as i type. and i don't mind the bashing, cause we all know i suck at painting. what i do mind is when some say i screw up alot. like you know me, and all the things ive done.
