Alarm w/ Remote Start Question

I was wondering how many people have remote start with manual transmission? Or is this just a bad idea?

Thanks,
Trey

I have an aladdin alarm with remote start on my manual. with my alarm, you leave the car and the engine keeps running for up to a minute to make sure that the car is in neutral. This way to prevent remote starting if the vechicle was left in gear. Id recommend this alarm to everyone

A remote start for a manual transmission is fine as long as the unit is standard safe

Install of a Remote Start is quite a bit more complex than an alarm install, not something for the inexperianced DIY guy.....I suggest going through a good audio shop...if you go to honda they will most likley screw it up and charge you an arm and a leg

Remote Start is actually quite simple to do and would take the average person
about 2-3 hours to install... Shoot I can even post a DIY for it... I did my remote start
in about 1-1.5 hours, but I do this stuff all the time....TO make it standard safe, you need
to put a switch on your shifter that turns power on to your RS when it is in neutral only....
Anyways, if you want a DIY, let me know and I will give you one....

U installed a full alarm and remote start in 1.5 hours.....good job speedy....what kind of switch do you use to make sure the car is in neutral?...The smart thing to do is to start with a remote start that is standard safe...this means it will not activate if any of the doors are opened after the car is armed even if you disarm the car then open the door and arm the system again it will not start just in case the car has been poped into gear...The standard safe alarms work like this....stop the car...put it into neutal...pull up the hand brake and shut off the car without pushing down on the clutch or brake....the car will still be running until you get out and shut the door, then the car will turn itself off....this is how the quality remote starts work.....if it does not work this way the alarm must be made by one of walt disney's guys..U know MICKEY MOUSE

I'm not sure about the viper, but it probably is standard safe, Viper is made by DEI and most of their products are standard safe...however I do know for sure that the Clifford and Compustar alarms are standard safe
