you don't HAVE TO sand everything down. There's a spray that you can spray over the dash (forgot the name) and just sand down. After sanding it down, you'd want to bondo the little pin holes and then primer and paint. I did that to mine and it came out like the exterior of my car. smooth, clean, and easy.
