Thumbs down Rust issues?

03 Civic EX coupe in Colorado

Some of the chips on the hood and front fenders rusted. Wiper arm chips rusted. Both rear fender lips where rocks could hit them have rusted.

Not deep rusting, but rather just surface rust. Friggin annoying. My non-7thgencivic that is a 1992, with a chip peppered hood, has ALOT less of the problem than the Civic.

Anyone else noticing the subpar corrosion protection on their 7thgen?

The only way I have found to prevent rust is touch-up paint the wounds soon after they happen.

You need to do something about that before it spreads, either that or get a new hood. It wont be easy but you can get it out.

Anywhere I found rust, I used some rust neutralizer on it. I have had great results using it on another car, with rust issues not returning so far.

The rear fender lips chips rusting might be an issue though. I am tempted to just coat the whole lip, and repeat as necessary.

That will really depend on the amount of rust you look to remove. You want to use the least abrasive one to get the job done so that you dont over do it. Where on the car is the rust your removing?

Yup, that's what I do. I have a nasty scrape on my hood. That's mean a CF Hood sometime down the road!
