Total Damage!!!
So I was chyllin at a stop sign last week and this old *** 1981 towncar swerved off the road that I was trying to turn on, and smacked pretty much my front end off. He was going about 40. Obviously his insurance is going to pay for everything. I just got the estimate finishd by my shop earlier tonite and he told me $6000. Thats what he told the insurance company, but after closer inspection, he noticed the transmission bracket might be damaged also that was not included in the estimate. For you gurus out there, how much would that affect the total damages? How much can a tramsmission bracket cost? If the bracket is damaged, are there other things down there that are directly damaged also? If someone could help out a clueless brotha, that would be great.
Oh, BTW. I have a 2003 civic 4dr ex.

According to KBB.com, if you have an 03 EX sedan with auto and 10K miles in excellent condition, it'd be worth slightly under 15K. I don't know how much that part costs, but I don't think they'll total it. If it was an '01, they would, but not an '03. I doubt it'll cost enough to get it to x>50%.

If you bend or bust something major (like the frame or anything critical to the car's function) and it costs a lot to fix, they'll usually total it. If you busted the tranny bracket, and they have to start replacing other things that got bent or broken (axles, subframe, transmission, A-arms, etc...), they'll probably just total the car. You wouldn't want to be driving it afterwards anyway. Sue the hell of of the guy, get atleast the full purchase price of the car back and go get another new one.
