P1607 [solved]
P1607 [solved]
Hello guys I’m new here, so when I was replacing my timing belt my buddy connected the battery as I was plugging in the alternator and it killed my ECU, so I found out that you can swap the EPROM chip aswell as the green security chip out with a numbers matching ECU to fix the issue. Needless to say but it actually worked! For about 200 miles… now my car throws a p1607 code and the green key is flashing the car runs perfectly fine and is not in limp mode
everything works aswell (tachometer and coolant gauge work) I tried reflowing the solder to the green chip as well as the EPROM chip, I disconnected the battery and ECU over night and it still throws the code. It is a 2003 Honda Civic ex 5 speed manual if that helps at all. Maybe having the key flashed to my ECU might fix the issue? Just odd that the car runs and drives just fine..

ECU/IGN question
Hello all so I’ve fried my ECU. I had two solder joints touch while attempting to reflow the green security chip. Now my question is if I buy a same model number ECU that comes with a matching ignition barrel and key. Will there be any reflashing that needs to happen for it to run? Or will I be able to just plug in the ECU aswell as the new ignition barrel, and have the car run again. I am in a situation where I am moving and have no real means to go to a dealership. (2003 Honda Civic EX 5 speed manual with sunroof and power windows, idk if that matters)

Re: ECU/IGN question
If you buy a matching set (ecu, immobilizer, and key) from the same car then no programming is needed. The new set needs to match your car though. '03 manual ex
re: P1607 [solved]
Thank you for the quick reply, I was freaked out abit. The ECU I am purchasing has all matching numbers aswell as it coming from a 5 speed 2003! Hopefully this solves this nightmare I’ve gotten myself into.
re: P1607 [solved]
I believe it is a vtec ECU, the listing states the model number aswell as EX, MT, and the year of the car it was pulled from. Correct me if I’m wrong but all EX cars have the VTEC 1.7 d17 engine, right?
