Stiff Suspension

Hello! I have a 2001 Honda Civic EX and I have a stock suspension. When ever I go over a bump or dip it bounces and it's very uncomfortable. Any suggestions on if I can upgrade, tune, etc. to fix the stiffness on my suspension so I have a smoother ride?

Re: Stiff Suspension

shocks/struts

bouncing is not stiffness. it's the springs that go boingo, boingo since the shocks are not absorbing the movement anymore. hence the complete name shock absorbers.

Ah, I can word it in another term, when I drive it's very "Rough" as my dad would call it (Sorry about the wording from the last post). If this doesn't change what I'm talking about what do I need to do? Replace the absorbers?

Re: Stiff Suspension

yes, tokiko blues preferably - will be slightly stiffer but much more composed
mechanics call them struts, so use that word to search for them

Re: Stiff Suspension

for our cars, struts=shocks=absorbers=dampers.

other cars with double wishbones suspension have shocks/dampers that are not struts.

Ah becuase the Civics have the MacPharson Struts right? So in all just the struts that need to be replaced if I'm correct?

Re: Stiff Suspension

replace the strut.

the strut is there to dampen the spring so ur bouncy.ness is caused by the blown strut (not the single cause but a major one)

if u dont want to lower ur car and want to keep ur stock springs, i would just upgrade the strut.

get some tokico blues. they have lifetime warrenty and are MUCH MUCH better than stock.

but there like 140 for each strut that's a little expensive I was think the Monroe ones would be better on a budget.
