Suspension questions

This may sound crazy but check it out- I know when you lower a car you are to use compreable componants, meaning like quality struts and such. But I only want to lower the suspension for now. What is the least expensive way to do that? Im not going to leave it that way but want the lowered effect first.
Also When I was younger back in 99 or 2000 I saw the coolest most badass thing ever done to a car but have learned that it is the most worst of things you could do. The two guys had work done on their suspension that made the car bounce like a ****ing basketball and I just loved it, is there a way to get that without messing my **** up?
This is my first post in this sub forum so please be genorous and leave as many comments as possible.

Re: Suspension questions

Ok I have read a great number of stickies up there.... and searched the forum on the information I need. Yet, I have not seen any information relating to my specific question and may have not been too specific when I left the last question in here.
I'm at the point when I want to lower the suspension and Im talking the springs shocks, sway bars, struts and possible alterations or change to wish bone and the such.
I want to keep the same wheel size I have now 15 but also want the neuspeed racing springs, they give 2.0 in front and 2.5 in the rear. ill be going with koni shocks front and back as research as concluded they make a good combination. However, tire dudes.com and other bitches say I cant do that unless I want to bend my fender lips or some **** like that. All I want to know is what are the most viable drops in inch options for our cars when using stock wheel diameters? And do I have to do mods to the body to get what I want. Also, could the drop be completed without to much difficulty if I move to a smaller thickness tire, the tire thickness I have now is stock size and measurements made show the rubber will only be 1/4 inch from the fender lip with no weight load.
Im willing to make decision revisions if nessesary with regards to either sport or racing style suspenions and tire size but nothing else.

Re: Suspension questions

215/45/17 tires on +42 offest wheels, which are close to the stock diameter just a bit wider, dropped about the same as the neuspeed springs will put you and I have no issues with rubbing. Generally it's when people go to super low offsets like +15 that they'll have issues with rubbing.

Re: Suspension questions

Great. Glad to hear that. Listen question regarding strength when messing with your stock suspension. Or maybe strength is a bad analogy, how much weight can the newer more agressive stance handle? I mean with neuspeed springs and koni shocks will I get the same strength regarding compression as stock? I can get around 300lbs in the car before the car begins to sag some and around 450 before I can see and feel a big differance.
Will those shocks and springs loosen or tighten the compression?

They have higher spring rates to stiffen the suspension, so you'd be able to carry more weight before seeing or feeling the car sag, however since the car is already low if it does sag it will be more noticeable in regards to scrapping over speed bumps and such.

You should look into tokico d-specs, way less work with comparable quality and performance to koni yellow inserts.

Re: Suspension questions

all your questions ahve been covered before. The bouncy bouncy is from hydraulics. I'm sure if you put hydraulics civic in search youll find something. I think Triz or some other seasoned user has an ultimate suspension thread that can cover all the questions you have.
