EM2 Lowering Question

Ive got a 2002 Civic EX 4dr and i wanna drop it. Ive already got Tokico Blue struts that i installed after my stock ones went out. My cars currently running on 17" rims wrapped in 215/45/17 Tires. So my question is, how low can i drop it without getting serious rub on turns and bumps? and what spring set would provide this range of drop? I bought an eibach prokit off ebay a while back but the ba$tard sent me the stock springs in the eibach box. I got my money back but it was still a pain.

Other misc. question... does a throttle body spacer do anything for the D17s? OBX makes one that has like a spiraled bore to it... i thought it would be a pretty easy bolt on if it makes any performance difference. Let me know what you've heard. Thanks guys!

Re: EM2 Lowering Question

considered a coil-over adjustable from eibach? I know they have a bad rep but I use one on my ride and after some fine tuning and proper torques on the spacers it works great. I have a pretty smooth ride and I'm sitting at least 3 inches lower on 17 enkei w/ sumotoyo tires. Although if I go any lower I'd rub :P

Re: EM2 Lowering Question

If you already have Blues just buy some lowering springs I would suggest Eibach Sportlines it is a 1.4 inch drop and will work great with your blues which are safe to about a 1.75" drop. Prokit is only a 1" drop I just put sportlines on my 02 and the ride is great no rubbing, looks great, handles much better, and no grinding on any speed bumps. Here is a picture

Re: EM2 Lowering Question

i've thought about adjustable coil-overs.. and i like the idea because i live in kansas and i could raise them in the winter so i dont drag my a$$ around in the snow. but since ive already got the blues... i dont really wanna go through the hassle of sellin those and buying a whole new coilover set. so id like to just stick with a spring kit. Is there any danger in buying a used set of springs from someone off the forums?

as for the throttle body spacer... its not my only performance modification. Ive got an AEM short ram, Ebay 4-1 header and a Megan racing catback. and im waiting for my megan test pipe in the mail. im just wondering if anyone's put on a spacer like this, and if it would provide any noticable difference.

look out for crower stage 1 in the forum. (400 bucks...) - will not give much, either.
look also for K-pro (above 1k...)
anything else will not give you much.

Re: EM2 Lowering Question

I didnt neccessarily mean that in terms of getting ripped off, but more in terms of buying used springs.. like if they were old or damaged and i installed them

ah, ok, sorry bout that
damaged are easy to spot, like cracks or stuff, but kind of hard to tell through internet...
They are made to take the bumps, so unless they are really starting to sag, i would think they should be ok. but will depend on the brand you looking for, they could be not-so-well designed. Can't vouch for anything other than stock and eibach, though...
Ah, forgot to say, but depending on drop, consider a fender rolling for these 17"'s

Other question... Ebay springs. I would definately say my suspension isnt something i wanna skimp on, but are any ebay springs better than the rest or even good at all?

i have the blues on my car as well...... they are very good, i have megen racing springs on it right now..... not really liking it but i would suggest you to get H&R springs 2 in drop, your blues will hold it really good and it should blow your mind away with them.......

Re: EM2 Lowering Question

you sure? eibach prokit is nearly identical to stock, black color and all. esp if they are used, the eibach small lettering can easily wear off. mine dont even say anything anymore. and springs are usually a lifetime part so used is perfectly fine so long as you stick with name brand (except neuspeed, their springs have issues). tokico blues also get my vote, mine are 3 yrs old on prokit springs and they are still like new. firmer than stock as expected, but the ride is good and not bouncy. and i no longer bottom out on speedbumps.

dont waste time on throttle spacers, its just a noisemaker.
