reassemble strut with coilover sleeve question...

regarding installing coilover sleeves on tokico struts -

Can someone tell me ..if you are supposed to compress the strut all the way down while you are tightening up the top strut nut? thanks.

Thats called the spring retainer bolt I believe.

no u dont need to compress the strut to put the top bolt on. just put the whole strut between ur legs and tighten the bolt. then when its gets real tight, hold on to ur top mount and it'll prevent the stem from swiveling


you only "compress" ur springs when it has a lot of load on the top mount. (because if u dont compress it, the spring will shoot the top hat out when u take off the bolt.)

with GC, the spring isnt long enough for there to be load on the top hat.
