First post...new suspension
I bought the D2 RS suspension for my 02 coupe a few weeks back and finally got around to installing it last week. I have to say that it was a simple installation and I really like the ride. I lowered the car 2" and have the dampening set at 15 clicks ccw. When I had the alignment done they were able to get everything except the rear camber within spec.
The first couple days I found myself hoping that I wasn't going to have to hear the spring binding noises which happened regularly. Then I remembered reading a post about tightening the jam nuts with a hammer and drift. Once I did that all of the extraneous noises went away.
My primary reason for installing this suspension was cost. My car has 62K on it and the suspension was shot. I don't have a garage here in Chicago and I had gotten quotes for $1000 to repair the fronts alone.
That's my .02 on the D2 RS suspension.

Re: First post...new suspension
your tires are going to pay the price for not getting a camber kit..Im on d2's also and have no rear camber problems at all. I check out the rear tires often to check the tire tread and its perfect. I suggest you invest in a camber kit

Midnight...I'm unclear, do you have a camber kit?

Gearbox...the rear camber is currently at -2.2 degrees. That's only .7 out of spec so I'll live with it for now. I'm still running 75's on 14's...if I decide to bite the bullet and get some decent rims and tires I might re-think it but for now it makes more sense to leave it as is.
Thanks for the words of wisdom.

Rear camber kit won't feel like something is wrong, but it'll definitely feel better once the kit is on. When I got my car, the last guy didn't install the camber kit. I went for an alignment to see if that would fix what sounded like a slight knocking from the rear. This was about a year after owning it and LOTS of driving. So it wasn't an immediate problem.
They showed me the tire, had a bump that looked like a friggin' tumor.
So we got the camber kit for $120 bucks, no charge for install since they were doing an alignment anyways.
Sound wasn't that bad after, but it was still there. Later I got the new tires. Drag racing, occasional road trips, and at least 400 mi. on a normal week. Year and a half later, those new tires look damn good.
So drive without the camber if you want for now since your tires are used, but when the time comes to replace tires, might as well get the kit and just protect the investment. Oh, you'll be able to go longer without needing an alignment too.

Re: First post...new suspension
yeah if you get full coilovers it replaces the spring and shock. but cheaper coilovers will still suck.
