Popping Noises Fixed!!!
So a few days ago i had instaled Ksport Pro Coilovers in my 02 civic(which i bought from a member on this site... which by the way was an amazing seller.. two thumbs up ZPS2004 ) and i noticed a popping and clunking noise as i turn the wheels. I realized that my springs were getting binded and jumping. There have been so many ppl who have instaled coilovers on this forum and got popping noises and there seems to be a million and one opinions on how to fix but i decided to listen to the pros. SO i called up K sport USA directly and they told me the base thingy(im sorry i forgot what its called =P )that the spring sits on is making the spring to travel with the knuckle or w.e and it was a manufacturing problem from the earlier k sport coilover batches. So they sent me a kit (free of charge ofcourse =) ) that replaced those base peices that the spring sits on and allows the spring to sit there withouth moving even when the knuckle does move. And to my delight no more popping or clunking or any noise whatsoever and on top of that the steering improved as well. Im just waiting to get it aligned in order to really see what these babies can do. So just wanted to let you guys know if any of you happen to have the k sport and experiencing same problems. Othere ppl with different brand of coilovers if you have same prblem( i know the TEINS do that same noise too sometimes on some applications) im sure if you replace that peice you could get ure to stop making sounds. Or if you cant do that a simple lubrication of the ball joint would suffice. Hope i was able shed some light on this for anyone who had this problem.

I have the same problem on my 2003, I have Tokico D-spec brand new and used B&G coils, when I turn my wheel at standstill and on the street,I have my oem top plate and the coil move when I turn...

I have a 2001 civic and I have the tein flex kit and my stearing also pops pretty bad how did you source the problem cause it seems to me its coming from the steering rack because of the drastic angle its at because of being lowered???

Hmm, mine used to do that too (Tein SS) until I took them off and cleaned the crap out of them. There was a bunch of road dirt and whatnot in there and they haven't done it since. It started after I adjusted the suspension to ride a little lower, but it hasn't done it since I cleaned them.

THat peice that sits above the helper springs on my coilovers thats making the springs twist with the shock. And its not the steering rack due to lowering angle because my coilovers were instaled to stock 7th gen height and i still got the problem. It was easy to diagnose i just had my buddy turn the wheel and i saw the springs getting binded with that peice.
Re: Popping Noises Fixed!!!
Furthermore for those of you who dont have Ksports, you obviously wont be able to get the kit to change the rubber base isolator like i did(unless maybe a custom one is made?) so here is a post taken from maxima.org forums where they are having the same problems with their coilovers.
" 3. Rubber spring isolators rubbing against the metal. This will give you squeaking noises as you turn the steering wheel, and in some cases might give you dull clicks if the springs start binding.
Solution: Add some lithium grease or CV joint grease where the rubber washers make contact with the metal."
source = http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...&postcount=138
And im pretty sure for all of you with TEINS and any other brand of full coilovers that are making that sound, this solution should work... hope ive been of some help to you guys im ure quest to end these damn clunking noises lol...

Re: Popping Noises Fixed!!!
I just installed my ksports and I noticed this noise too only when turning out of my driveway or sometimes turning the wheel at a complete stop. I asked the dealer I bought em off and he said the spring wasn't tightened snug enought since the fronts are lower mount adjustable. So I tightened the spring perches to where it's difficult to turn the spring without compression by hand with the car jacked up, and the noise went away for a day, now it's back. Should I call ksport about this part and will they ship it for free. Also do I have to take the whole assembly off the car to install them to the shock. let me know if anyone else has any input on these, because these are amazing coilovers only small flaw so far is this noise, thanks alot appreciate it.
