Tie rod question
Tie rod question
I see a lot of threads of people replacing thier tie rods. Some people were replacing them because the original ones were damaged for some reason. Would I need to worry about this if I plan lower my car (04 ex 2dr) 2 inches or so on a full coilover...?

First you need to know, there are tie rods and tie rod ends. People replace their tie rod ends for 2 reasons.
1) The boot cracks and it loses grease
2) they mess up the threads for the nut during install
You should only have to replace them for one of those two reasons.

To a point, as it also depends on how much negitive camber you plan on running and if you are adjusting said camber with a camber plate or camber bolts.
So, on a car with an OEM alignment you probably wont have any problems. On a car with a more compeditive alignment you may end up having to raise the car up in order to run the amount of camber and toe you want/need.
yea I just want oem alignment (0 camber). I plan on using camber bolts to zero out the camber. I'm looking at the tein basic coilover (or maybe eibach prostreet?), so I don't think I will get any camber plates with it.
the first response is wrong, tie rods are much more often replaced due to excessive play than wripped boots. theres ways to check it (easy) but you need to know what your doing to sense it and differentiate between other suspension components. and tie rods are most commonly referred to as inner and outer tie rods.
youll have NO issues of the stock tie rods handling enough adjustment due to height changes in vehicle. and good luck finding any aftermarket longer one.
and zero camber isnt always stock, i know what your saying but so you know cars always have some camber, mostly negative but sometimes postiive. very small amounts though.

I agree. You don't want 0 camber up front because you will have crappy handling.
ok, ill agree it was incomplete. ive been around, i know you know better.
