strut question
this may sound like a stupid question, but what is the part called that is on top of the strut that holds the bearings, and has the bolts on it that stick through the body of the car??? also, when purchasing aftermarket struts, do they come with this part???

thanks, just hoping my bearings dont all come out when i pull the old ones out, im getting some popping and squeaking, hoping replacing them will help, the squeaking is driving me nuts...
white lithium grease and bearing grease are your friend.
the spring hat can be reused, the bearing as well, unless you're like me and drop one and it pops open and some of the ball bearings roll down a damn storm drain in the parking lot outside your apartment....but i digress...

when i lowered my car that part popped off and i had the bearings roll down my driveway lol, i got all of them and rolled it around in the grease, no squeeks or popping noises at all
it also happened to another civic i lowered, bearings fell out, makes popping noises now but the struts are blown so yea

I was going to say you might want to check your bushings- I have squeeking in the back, my lower control arm bushing is cracked and driving me crazy- yeah the bushing is super cheap compared to the labor.. apparently if you try doing the LCAB yourself you need a blow torch or some rediculous muscle... gosh. I might have to just throw 200 or 300 at honda as well. *sigh* Good luck man.
Oh... getting adjustables huh? I must point you in the direction of the TEIN SS group buy:

yea, labor was only 135 at a local shop, took about 3 hours using an air chisel, but at long last the squeak is gone, and car is "quiet" again... itll never be quiet in reality... haha
