spc camber kit

hopefully i wont get flamed, but in regards to camber kit, i know i need one. just curious on how it works? i was looking at the spc camber kit at truehonda.com for an 01 civic. i currently am running on tokico blues with nuespeed sport so i'm on a 1.75 drop in the fron and 1.5 in the rear. i've read upon camber kits and was wondering what the meant by 2degree 1 dgreee etc. my rear are horrible right now and want to get this fixed before the winter time . . .

if i purchase this from truehonda, would this fix the problem . . .
and how much would i be looking at to install the kit. thanks!

a camber kit is used to change your camber angle when the factory parts wont allow for it or when the factory part has been adjusted as far as it will go and the camber is still out. Now on the front, the camber is changed by loosing the 2 crash bolts and moving the strut assembly in and out untill you get the desired camber reading, then the bolts are tightened. Now if it still is out, adding a camber bolt to one of the holes will allow you to change the camber reading a bit more then what the factory adjutment will allow, and it is usually enough to get you back within factory specs. If it is still out, adding 2 camber bolts to each side will allow you to adjust it even more. Usually 1 camber bolt on each side alows for around a +1/-1 degree adjustment. Now the same goes for the rear. But on our car, the rear camber cant be adjusted because the stock arms back there arent adjustable. But adding a adjustable camber arm back there will allow you to move the rear assembly in our out to adjust camber. the rear camber kit usually allows for up to +4/-4 degrees of adjustment. Now when you a shop does alignments, they read all the alignment angles in degrees. So when something is changed, it is moved in degrees. Like 1 degree positive or 1 degree negative. And every manufacture has a set specs of what each alignment angle should be. usually each alignment angle is allowed to go so far positive and so far negative in degrees without causing tire wearing issues and pulling issues. and when it gets out of that range, then you start having pulling problems or tire wearing problems. And camber kits help with this problem for lowered cars.

Now you can order them anywhere. Truehonda has them and so does ebay. Now if have some mechanical knowledge, you can install them yourself, it is not hard at all. otherwise, call and around and see what shops will charge.

depends on where you get them. Most range from $150-$180 for the full kit (front and rear) to $20-$30 for the front camber bolts and $110-$120 for the rear adjustable arms.

i have a question: for stock suspension, if i have 200 lb of cargo in my trunk, and then 300 lb of people in the back seat and result in a 2 inch drop in the back, and then drive it across the country, would i get camber wear on my tires?

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I also have a question that probably doesn't deserve it's own thread.

I have an 03 Civic... Since the front bolts on the struts are 16mm rather than the 14mm, I was wondering if I have the correct SPC front camber kit bolts. When I put SPC front camber bolts in, it feels like there's still space inbetween. I bought this used from a 03 civic member, and he said it fits right in... So I'm just a little confused on how the fitment for the front bolts. Any members w/ 03+ want to chime in? THANKS!

Well all I know is the part number for the 16MM front camber bolts are 81280 through SPC. So call them or see if another site has them. SPC has different sizes of front bolts.

The alignment shop will do it unless you have a gauge. Do not attempt to do it by eyeball.

I have SPC camber kit on the rear. Look at the pics. before the camber, my rear was saggy and the top of the rims slanted into the car. with the camber kit, it keeps the wheels completely straight, in a vertical position, just like stock alignment/camber.
