Spring Install Time?
Hey all,
I will be attempting a spring install within the next month or so and am wondering how long it took you all? I am somewhat ignorant on installs and have never attempted an install like this before...anyone have a quote on approx. how long it might take a novice like myself....I've read the DIY (very helpful from what I can see) however am not 100% sure whether I would be better off paying someone to do the install. And where in sams hell did you people go that charged $80-100? Every place that has quoted me has said $150-200 MINIMUM

if u can spare the $, have it done, if not u might be lookin at 5hrs, are u trying this by urself or w/ friends? extra hands and minds dont hurt to have around either, being creative could save ur project if ur at a lack of proper tools

Rep Power: 320 IMO if I tried mine myself i'd end up paying someone to do it, or having a friend who knows wut they're doin help me, because 3 of us took about 5hrs to do mine, well 1 friend had done his b4 and we also took ample breaks 
so actual work wasnt 5hrs, and also a big thing w/ mine was.. I had 01-02 Tokicos, which had to be drilled 2mm bigger in the front.. so that took a ton of time, also.. dont hit ur tie rod bolt w/ a hammer if u dont have proper tools it was suggested to put a piece of wood under the bolt then hit it, rubber mallot might work too, but it'd take a lot longer, might be safer tho.. we ****ed up the bolt a bit and my friend had to do some dremel work, good thing he know wut he was doin otherwise i'd have been pretty fvcked..

Rep Power: 320 but aside from the drilling the tokicos and fvcking the tie rod bolt, its pretty easy, even 2 newb DIYers could prolly get it done in under 5hrs..

Rep Power: 0 Yes his DIY was the one I checked out...seems very detailed...I would actually be doing it by myself...out of my friends im the only one who likes working on cars, so I'd be going solo on this project! On my RSX that I had...I paid a shop 225.00 for installation...but now w/ my civic I dont want to pay that much...thats why if I could find a shop that would charge 80-100 I'd probably jump all over it....

The first time I did it on someone's car took me like 3 hours. This includes taking all the time to loosen that top nut having set the impact gun to TIGHTEN instead of LOOSEN it. Man my friend still won't let me live that one down. The car I did right after that (did two in one day PLUS fiddled with my coilovers, ha ha) took like 2 hours from jack-up till it rolled out the garage.
I was going to do my self as well, but even though I have most of the tools, I didn't have the spring compressor and th tie rod separator. So I paid $100 and the whole thing was taken care off.

1. it will always take alot more time than you think. escpecially by yourself
2. The rear passenger bolt might be seized to the bushing and will need to be torched out
3. Make sure u have a gear puller to get the tie rod out...works wonders, and it doesnt harm the screw or the boot.
4. If you dont have air tools it will probably take longer, and u will definately need a breaker bar.
if you get all of the above done then those are the common problems that can occur, and you should be fine. Its hard to say tho, cux ive seen cars that fight the mod all the way through. It all depends on what kinda shape you're car is in. Give it a try, and if you cant do it, just make sure u know how to put everything back
and take it to a shop.
