Sqeeking when I get out...

When i get out of my car there is the sqeeking noise that comes from the rear. I went to the back, stood over the left(driver) wheel and pressed down on the car. A sqeeking noise occurs, like when your bed makes noises from F*ckin. I went on the other side and the same thing. I guess that would be the springs? Anyways, I'm not sure what it is? Any thoughts? What is happening? Springs, shocks dying?

P.S. I did some searches and found nothing that could help. Everything was dealing with going over bumps, unless I can't hear my problem when going over bumps.

Ride: completely stock suspension, except for the 15's, but that doesn't really count as mods.

thanks

Show me the way!

It is most likely that your shocks are dying/leaking.

I second that
when my rear driver one died it made a noise

I then had a freind in the trunk and had them bounce a little and listen to the rear
it was making a squishing noisedue to it leaking.

That exact thing happened to me....I took it into the dealer and they told me the rear knuckle was cracked. I forgot which side though...They replaced it for free (warranty)

After the warranty work was done.....No more squeaks....

How long can you go with them like this. The longevity on the leaking/dying shocks? Is it slow? or pretty quick(weeks)? Worth replacing with stocks shocks or just go with replacement with aftermarket suspsension? (Ex: Koni's+? or Something like Hayame's) since its the next biggest item everyone raves about? Others tell me Teins, or whatever.

service center told me today that my shock and struts are fine, no leaking. He said perhaps it has to do with the assembly, perhaps some rubbing going on in there. I'll leave it be. My car will just squeek like an old car eeretime I go over bumps, but oh well, If i turn the music up i can't hear it.

i've started hearing squeeks lately too, sounds like front though. when i stop hard, the weight transfer to the front makes it squeek. haven't noticed it long enough to know if it's weather dependant either, once summer comes and the windows go down then we'll see

Sometimes, sqeaking from the rear can be caused by the rear brakes. If you park on a grade and your e-brake isn't pulled hard enough the simple action of getting out of the car can cause the drums to sqeak. Its just the friction between the shoes and the drum.

One way to check is to try pushing the car rather than bouncing it. Also, you could try not using the e-brake (just leave car in gear if its a stick) and do the rear bouncing thing again. If the noise is gone, then it was the rear brakes.

My 2K1 4dr LX-G just started doing the same thing. I only notice it at low parking lot speeds. I pushed on the rear quaters, and it made the same noise. My first guess was it was the bushings in the rear suspension. But i'll try the E-brake test to confirm.

DOOOOOOOOOD..

that's ur rear DRUM BRAKE......

same thing happened to me....and im really pissed off but can't do a thing about it....

i changed the rear pad (BIG BIG BIG MISTAKE) and same thing happened again..

to ensure about it, try to sit ur car in idle condition and pull the e-brake up...and then, push ur brake pedal....listen to the f**** squeeking noise from behind..

u know why i said it's a big mistake? cos i forgot to bring it into the DEALER!! OMG, SO STUPID.....it's still on warranty.........i shouldn't change the pad by my own..

1. Pads/shoes are wear items and aren't usually covered under warranty.
2. It very well could be the rear brakes, I had to adjust the "self-adjusting" shoes at 23k. Try pushing down on your car with the e-brake up vs e-brake down and see if you notice a difference in noise (and tap the brake pedal a few times to re-center the shoes).

^^
it's not about the pad...
but the stretching noises that comes from the rear brake....

i doubt it that it comes from the pad.....when i checked it out, 95% of pad still there....

My co-worker took her civic in with the same complaint, and they charged her 1hr labor. Maybe your dealer will be different, I don't know.
It sounds like you re-installed the springs incorrectly or the shoes aren't adjusted properly. Mine made noise around 23k, so I adjusted them and they're quiet again. My problem was the right rear shoes didn't "self-adjust" and had to be pushed out farther to reach the drum than the left side. Once I tightened that side, both sides were tight and even again. Also, the e-brake lever engages lower and is rock solid again.

my car just came out of an accident which damaged the rear suspension. After i got my car back, there was the squeaking sound. I am pretty sure its not from the brakes cause i hear it even when i dont apply breaks and am going over slightly uneven terrain. I really need to know what the exact problem could be, cause i need to tell it to the guy who fixed up my car so he can fix it. He said that my rear arm (whatever that is) needs a little grease, but that didnt work either. Could it be the struts, the springs or something else??? what needs to be replaced??
