About new Civic Sport ride, NVH 18" Wheels

I wonder if anyone has regretted getting the Civic Sport
Because the 18" rims hurt the ride vs the 16" rims
I took one for a test drive, and could notice it
I am looking for someone who has taken one on a road trip, or lived with it for a while
Does it get punishing and become a regret
If they would get model with the 16" rims in the future
And is the suspension is stiffened in the Sport model or exactly the same?
I know the Touring also comes with 18", but maybe the suspension softened or the exact same?
Looking for someone who really knows there Civics
Sales people just tell you what you want to hear
Thanks

Re: About new Civic Sport ride, NVH 18" Wheels

I can't speak specifically for the 11th gen, but I've upsized wheels on almost all my cars and it's more or less the same effect every time. "Civic knowledge" doesn't really apply here. For something with suspension like the civic (fairly standard but definitely not abusive), 18" wheels should still be a fairly smooth ride. There isn't as much road absorption as with a larger sidewall, but it's made up for with steering feedback and traction (assuming they go with a wider tire as well).

They likely just used a bigger wheel because it looks better than a smaller wheel, and the Touring is a higher trim model and will be treated as such. If you really wanted to, you could probably opt for 16's with a Touring, assuming it clears the brake discs, which it should.

Either way, I run 18's on my FR-S and feel fairly fresh afterwards. You should feel completely fine after driving in a much more forgiving car.

Re: About new Civic Sport ride, NVH 18" Wheels

So, buy a brand new 2023 Civic Sport, then sell the brand new 18" tires and rims it came with
Then buy aftermarket 17" rims that get discontinued quicker than I-phones, so when a generic rim breaks, and it will
I can then replace all 4 to gain 1/2" of sidewall
Great idea
Or I could get a Civic model with 16" rims and gain a 1" of sidewall
To avoid hemorrhaging money
The question was between the ride and NVH vs16" wheels and 18" factory wheels that they come with
Not how to hemorrhage money on a new Civic

Or go to a dealership, find a Touring and ask if they can put 16's on it instead, if it makes that big a difference to you.

It shouldn't really. I was under the impression that you'd already tried it.

many changes their stock rims for fancier ones. Just go to a tire shop and ask if they have a stock rim/tire somewhere.
my aftermarket wheels from 2004 are still going strong.
