Hey everyone! My steering wheel is pretty shot, so I'd like to add a leather steering wheel cover for my 2004 Civic. I bought a cover on eBay, but apparently it was labeled wrong in the auction as being for a 2001-2005. The 2001-2002 steering wheels are different than the 2003-2004 steering wheels. The 2001-2002 steering wheels don't have the nubs at the 3 and 9 o' clock positions of the steering wheel like the 2003-2005 versions do.

Has anyone been successful is getting a custom 2003-2005 Civic leather steering wheel cover that you can sew onto the steering wheel, including the nubs? If so, where did you get it?

No one? I got a 2001-2003 Honda Civic leather steering wheel cover, but that will not fit my 2004 Civic because of the nubs at 9 and 3 O' clock.

You could just buy/install a used '04-'05 steering wheel.

I thought about that. I'd like to exhaust the possibility of finding a 04-05 leather stitched steering wheel cover before I jump to that route. Hence the reason why I'm asking that question.

To be clear, I already have an 04 steering wheel that is torn up. I want to get a stitched leather steering wheel cover for it. The 01-03 Civic leather steering wheel covers are easy to find. The 04-05 are very difficult because of the nubs.

Yeah I've been trying eBay and Amazon, and they're either the tacky add-on steering wheel covers, "universal" steering wheel covers that you can stitch up (which are **** unless I see a picture of them on a Civic). On the rare occasion that I find one for a Civic that's specially made for 01-05, it's for the 01-03 Civics, of which I already have a stitched steering wheel cover. Those do not fit because of the nubs. I have not seen one that is tailored to the 04-05 Civics.

Just to clarify, are you referring to the nubs that are on the back of the steering wheel? Do the '04-'05 not have those?

I just want to make sure because I feel like I'm finding a lot of steering wheels that fit your exact description.

Yes, I am referring to those nubs.
Just to clarify, I do not want those tacky add-on steering wheel covers that are all over Amazon and eBay. I'm talking about a stitched leather steering wheel cover for the 04-05 Civics. I went on eBay and bought a stitched leather steering wheel cover that I thought would fit my 04 VP steering wheel, but it did not because it did not have the extra material that covers the nubs at 10 and 2. That particular steering wheel cover was made for an 01-03 Civic without the nubs.

If you (or anyone else) has seen any links on eBay or Amazon on 04-05 Civic stitched steering wheel, made specifically for the 04-05 Civics, I would love to see them. The ones I've seen are straight that would only fit 01-03, and they're advertised as being able to fit the 04-05 steering wheels. I am looking for pictures on the website or auction to ensure that the leather will go around those nubs. I have not seen that yet.

In addition, the airbag is different on the 01-03 Civics, as is the steering wheel. If I used the stitched leather steering wheel cover that I have, I would need to get a different steering wheel, airbag, AND I would have to have the airbag replaced under warranty again. Not sure the Honda dealer would like that.

So the simple answer and cheaper route would be for me to find a stitched leather steering wheel cover that fits over the 04-05 Civics, and specifically over the nubs.

Actually, @Chezboat24 , I was referring to the two nubs that are at the 10 and 2 positions. Only the 04-05 Civics had them, to my knowledge. They are different than the ones from 01-03, which do not have them. I am NOT referring to the wave pattern things on the back of the steering wheel.

It seems like finding one for 04-05 is impossible at this point because the steering wheel itself and the fact that it has nubs at 10 and 2 is different than the one from 01-03. I don't want to go get a steering wheel from 01-03 because then I have to replace the airbag, and I do not want to do that, what with all the recalls going around. I just had mine replaced in November.

Does anyone know or has anyone ever stitched a custom leather steering wheel cover for a 04-05 Honda Civic?

I’ll have to look again. I sold my ‘01 but I can look at a friends ‘02. I swear it has the nubs you’re referring to.

I will have to try some local shops, but they will be more expensive than what I can find online.

The cover that I bought is only for a 01-03 Honda Civic without the nubs at 10 and 2. You can see the cover will not fit my 04 (with the nubs).

That's weird. I have been in enough Civics over the past 6 months that all the 01-03s did not have the nubs. Neither did any from ebay or Google images search. Perhaps I am the one who is wrong!

I now question my own existence!

Just wanted to see if anyone had any updates on if any companies offer stitched leather replacements for a 04-05 Civic. 01-03 are plentiful, but I have an 04 and do not want to replace the steering wheel and airbag. I can't seem to find the stitched covers anywhere!

So I have decided to just shave off the nubs at 10 and 2 and install the leather cover that I have. Will be finished tomorrow. It's a black cover with blue thread, which matches my car color.
