09 Civic DX-g 4d AC Pulley?
09 Civic DX-g 4d AC Pulley?
Hey i have a standard civic, randomly one day it would start idling very strangely, then just shutting off, if it was idle the car would just drop RPMs and die, then the belt snapped, i figured it was just the belt and replaced it but noticed that something wasnt turning as it should, i found out this was the AC pulley from searching online. The new belt did nothing to fix the problem, my question is can I get a belt that bypasses this, I called the dealership and he wouldn't give me the dimensions for a belt that would work, and mentioned something about the powersteering, since I had automatic power steering it's not possible to bypass the AC pulley, is this true? Does anyone have any experience with this? Thank you. This is coming at possibly the worst time.

Yeah i think it may be siezed, is replacing it the only option. When i was googling the problem people mentioned a shorter belt that would bypass it, i was hoping that could solve it.

Get some string and route it around the pulleys, minus the AC, measure it and tell the parts store the length

ah, the dealer is not supposed to tell you how to hack the car... You are better off asking a non-dealer mechanic
imagine you in a brand spanking new car and dealer suggests you to bypass AC?.
