Check TPMS system constant

2014 Civix LX (whatever bottom of the barrel is). Had new tires put on. TPMS system resets until it is driven, stopped and restarted. TPMS check comes back on. Dealership tells me that if the incorrect speed rated tires are installed, the TPMS system won't work. They told 89H is the required speed rating. The tires installed have 89S speed rating. Can anyone out there in Hondaland verify this as true? Will a lower rated tire 'mess' with the TPMS system? Thanks, LaneM

Re: Check TPMS system constant

?!? Not sure if the 2014 uses actual sensors or calculates the number of rotation per minutes, but speed rating have nothing to do with it.

If it is calculated, softer tires will impact the calculation (deform to a smaller diameter at the contact point). But speed rate does not define if a tire is soft or not. It's a matter of having a smaller diameter or not at the contact point to the ground.

check if tires are at same pressure, if not, inflate the tires to same pressure.

Re: Check TPMS system constant

Possible that one or more of the TPMS sensors are going bad and need to be replaced?
