So this might be a simple diagnosis. But I don’t know what is going on.

my ac works good, but when there is a large electical load , my ac compressor fails to engage

i have 2 air compressors in my car ( for trian horn lol) which draw nearly 65 amps when running , it makes sense for me to lose ac for that time.

my alternator is good, it is hard to look at the amp draw, but it will go all the way up to 14 voltz , ac compressor causes about .25 voltage drop.

during hot days , the ac compressor runs good, but then suddenly fails to engage, fans engage but no compressor, I wait like 3 min for battery to charge up doesn’t engage . Here is the weird part

I will literally go out of my car, move the compressor part of ac, and it will engage

now it does not do this all the time, but it bothers the hell out of me, compressor spins good, obvious tough spots because it’s compressing refrigerant.

Need some ideas, alternator or ac compressor ?

Clutch gap might be too big, voltage drops, not enough pull from the coil to keep the clutch engaged.

Recommend replacing ac compressor?

Should be able to take off the clutch plate and remove a shim. You can also buy a clutch and coil kit

Might not be a bad idea, just the thing is, if I’m taking it off I might as well replace it!, I’m not sure, gonna see my options though. I appreciate your insight

You can do all of it with the compressor attached to the car

not sure how it works, the hondas have some stuff that turns charging off to reduce fuel consumption, there maybe some higher output alternators, but again the hondas turn-off charging, not sure if there is an alternate alternator
