Replacing Expansion Valve - Access through firewall?
Replacing Expansion Valve - Access through firewall?
I've watched numerous videos of replacing a bad expansion valve. Everyone goes through the glovebox.
Isn't it possible to access through the firewall from the engine bay?? Not sure (if you're not replacing evaporator core) you need to go through the glovebox?
SIDE QUESTION: If replacing the expansion valve, do you need to vacuum the system beforehand? And then recharge?

Re: Replacing Expansion Valve - Access through firewall?
You have to open up the system to replace the valve. You should have the refrigerant recovered before working on it. Afterwards, the system will have to be vacuumed and refilled.

being honest?
look at the firewall under the hood. You would need to cut through the firewall to reach anything inside the cabin...
if you cut it, it will not be a firewall anymore...
