New starter bad?

2005 Honda Civic, automatic, 4cyl (not hybrid)
I am at my wits end with this.

Car started gradually having trouble cranking, I'd have to turn the key a couple times.

Now it won't turn over at all.
Replaced Starter
12.6 V at battery and on Starter Solenoid
Buzzing noise in steering column when I try to crank the car
Tried starting in neutral and still nothing.

Should I yoink the starter out and go buy another one?

I'm about to have to call a mobile mechanic because it's near impossible to get towed from where I'm at and my car has to be gone by the end of today. Am considering setting it ablaze, lol.

I realize this is probably a basic *** question but all my searches pretty much point to me needing a mechanic to come out and find the ghost in the wires.

Thanks so much for your time

Re: New starter bad?

Buzzing in the dash/column usually indicates a bad ground. Triple check the battery and starter connections, make sure they're tight with clean shiny metal. Starter grounds through the trans. If you have the battery terminals that just clamp the bare end of a wire check for corrosion in the wire.
