Hard start, runs fine, injector issue cylinder 3
2001 Honda Civic Ex D172 engine
Hard to start, getting worse. Have to crank 2 or three times and often apply the gas pedal to get the engine to start.
Once started runs just fine.
Sound test with screwdriver to injector and other end to ear. Cylinder 2 & 3 seemed quieter, #3 not working.
Pulled the injector and fuel rail assembly out to test the spray of the injectors (against a piece of paper / cardboard).
Cylinder 3 injector issue - only about 1/2 or less the spray of injectors for cylinder 1,2,4. Replaced injector 3 with refurbished. Still same problem - only 1/2 or less fuel spray as the other three injectors.
Switched Injector 1 with injector 3. Now the injector in position 3 still has the 1/2 spray amount problem and the new injector in position 1 seems fine.
Circuit test (light tester) of connector for injector position 3 showed light for power line and showed blinking light for ground based on pulse it was receiving from computer (I believe that's how it works).
There is no visual obstruction in the fuel rail at the hole for injector 3.
Fuel pump makes sound like it should to tell me sending fuel.
Related? Don't know: P1457 evap code. I replaced the purge valve, the code still comes up.
Next, I will replace the charcoal canister and check for any crimped or torn lines going to and from the canister.
Please help, thanks in advance! Trying to get it to start easy / normal and injector 3 to work - electrical issue?
Relays under the hood for ignition tested fine.
