2002 civic EX 1.7 won't start

2002 civic EX 1.7 won't start
Hi all.
New crank shaft and cam shaft sensor. New fuel pump. Was running well for some months then eventually it hesitated to start but after a few tries it started.
Now it won't start at all unless I spray fuel starter, then runs perfect. Turn it off and the same, needs fuel starter to start.
I found an IGNITION 1 fuse in the engine compartment fuse box. It's #20, the lower right light green fuse.
Would this be the problem?

Have you verified the timing belt didn’t skip a tooth or two.
Do a compression test?
Read sensor values esp IAT.
Not sure what your trying to say about that fuse, does it keep popping?

Bad ground between battery and trans? Body to engine?

I was thinking that the Ignition 1 fuse had something to do with the problem.
I assume the belt is OK since once it starts it runs just fine and idles fine.
How do I check the IAT? Where is it located?
I need to borrow from advance auto the compression kit.

Check engine light on? Got fault codes?
Read ECT sensor value in live data while it won't start?

A good scanner that can display live operating data.
It basically sounds like you will have to figure out why the engine isn't receiving enough fuel during cranking. Computer sees the wrong engine temperature? Injector control problem? Fuel pressure problem? Lots of possibilities here.

That's exactly my question here, why no fuel at cranking.
Do the scanners they lend at Advanced Auto have this feature?
Can you recommend a scanner that would have the capability to detect the things you mention?
What experience do you have with the Foxwell NT201?

A phone app and a bluetooth dongle might be sufficient. Google search 'torque app' and 'torque pro app'
Being able to see live operating data may or may not give solid answers to anything....but in capable hands it's immensely valuable information.

torque is the name of the app, pay the couple bucks for the full version. That way you can see the live data, etc.

I've been real busy.
I bought the diagnostic blue tooth scanner and my 2002 civic was not programmed in the data.
I returned it. I asked for technical help from them to no avail.
I replaced the three relays behind the glove box hoping things would change. No luck.
I still have the same issue: starts only with starter fluid, runs great but won't re-start, whether cold or warmed up.
Any other suggestions?

You have yet to do the things I suggested such as take off timing covers and verify marks and then do compression testing.
So far your just loading parts into the cannon and firing away....

Slumpertcivic, I am somewhat physically limited to engage myself in removing the timing cover.
I am trying to understand about the timing belt/marks not in the right position. After the engine starts it runs just fine, idles well with A/C on and drives with no issues.
Wouldn't the engine be not running properly with timing off?
What signs will the engine show if compression low or one or two cylinders way off?
I'm not questioning your knowledge, I am just trying to understand. Don't forget I'm an old guy.

It’s entirely different getting a engine to start at 50rpm vs keeping it running at 700rpm.
You don’t have a starter/battery/Ignition issue.
You don’t have a fuel delivery issue.
You don’t have a restricted intake or exhaust issue.
You still may have a sensor gone haywire, or you may have low compression from bunked up valves, worn out cylinders, or a timing belt that’s skipped a couple spots.
Since it is drivable, should be easy for you to take it to a import shop and have them give you a diagnosis.
Love easy to replicate issues..

OK guys.
I got the car scanned at autozone and got codes:
P0113 intake air temperature sensor circuit high input and
P1519 idle air control valve circuit malfunction and P1457 EVAP system leak.
I installed these two parts,P0113 and P1519 from my other civic and still having the same issues.
Any other suggestions?

Well, I was not able to find the problem,
Took it to a mechanic and after a long time of scanning and checking things, it turned out to be a cracked crank shaft sensor.
The timing was OK.
Everything else checked OK.

You never got a crankshaft sensor code? P0335 or P0336?
Was this replacement crankshaft sensor the one you mentioned in your first post? What brand? Could it have been defective?

Yeah, this is the same one.
I had actually saved the original sensor that came with the car and that's the one that's in it now.
Those codes for the crank sensor never came up, just the ones I mentioned earlier.
I don't know the brand of it. I got it from rock auto on line..
