Hi. Well my 98 Civic, brother in-law was driving he said the fuse for the fuel pump blow. He replaced it but still wouldn't start. So had to tow it home. I tryed starting but wasn't getting spark. So I started trouble shooting one thing after another & replaced spark plugs & wire, distributor, inner parts so just got a hole distributor and still nothin. Well finally got to the bottom and found that the Camshaft key was snapped off but nothing wrong with belt. What I'm asking is can I just replace the cam wheel? Is the key lock apart of the wheel? Or is it separate? & & How the heck did that happin?

hopefully it did not bent the valves. These engines are interference type. if you are lucky...
be prepared to replace (or not, if you are lucky):

• camshaft
• camshaft key
• camshaft gear
• valve cover gasket

honestly, it looks like the camshaft itself failed

At minimum you need a new cam, gear, and key. But as mentioned you may have bent valves
