Burning Oil issue on 2000 EM1

so while driving sometimes and always after vtec a little bit of smoke comes out of my exhaust. I have been keeping a eye on oil and i need a qt a week. I drive around 50 miles a day and 35 of those are freeway miles going 80mph so my rpm is pretty high.. Also my car smells like oil/gas but i do have a flowmaster exhaust and DC headers. I just bought the car a month ago so idont know if this is normal. I did have a oil leak when i first bought it and got my cam seal and valve cover gasket changed. I think it might be my head gasket leaking or something?

holy ****.. I was losing a quart every 1000 and was freaking the hell out. My vote goes for rings, as well.

Before you go and rip the engine apart, look around for physical leaks. In the meantime, keep the engine oil level in the happy zone.

Re: Burning Oil issue on 2000 EM1

I went ahead and checked for leaks again and I can see a tiny leak from the head gasket on the left side and also seems like some of the hoses are leaking a tiny bit too. Im gonna have my mechanic change the head gasket and take off and clean up the hoses. He also said its a good timing to change the water pump and do a valve job. And it seems like a couple of the motor mounts are broken. He told me no to get the cheap ones off ebay but I don't want to spend 300$ for new mounts. Any sugggestions?

The head gasket does not leak oil.

(Did you mean the valve cover gasket?)

Your problem is stuck oil rings--- and the head must come off to do anything about the rings. Put all new gaskets on when it goes back together.

I would not waste time and money on a head gasket job alone. Pull the pistons out and do the rings while the head is off.

I would not do a valve job if it is not needed.

You get what you pay for here.

Cheap mounts will cause you to feel a whole lot of engine vibration.
I'd say factory all the way.
