Need Help: Car Won’t Start, Alarm/Panic Mode Issue?
Hello, I recently picked up a car that had been sitting for 1–2 years. After changing the oil, I tried to jumpstart it, but the alarm started going off. The battery was completely dead, so I replaced it with a new one—but the alarm kept blaring.
I think the alarm system is preventing the car from starting. When I turn the key, nothing happens—no dash lights, no sounds, no crank. The only thing that works are the brake lights.
I found what I believe is the main relay. Unplugging it stops the alarm, but I’m pretty sure that relay is also needed for ignition, so the car still won’t start. I recently unplugged the horn so I could plug the relay back in and mess around without the noise.
I’ve been trying to figure this out for about 2 weeks, but no luck. Someone mentioned the car might be stuck in “panic mode”—a buddy of theirs had something similar happen with a Honda after the battery died.
I bought and OBD2 scanner to see if it would help me but it wont work, I'm assuming its because I cant get the car to start
I think that my issue could also be the result of an aftermarket alarm which was one of the first things I had looked for but to be honest I'm not really sure what exactly I should be looking out for in order to find one.
Any advice or direction would be seriously appreciated. This is my first car and I’m still learning. I will continue to update this post with what I have tried, and whether or not it worked. Thanks.

If it's an aftermarket alarm rip it out and restore the wiring to factory
