Reverse battery, no power after replacement of fuse
Background: I got a 96 sedan with a b18a1 swap, MT, all that. It has a battery relocation kit to the trunk and unfortunately the - and + weren't labeled and I thought I knew which way it went but I was wrong. Threw a small spark from the positive line/negative post.
I put a new battery fuse (100a 3.2v just like the one already in it) and I had the battery tested and charged and now it gets NO power whatsoever. No gauge lights anything.
I had the battery tested again, checked the higher amp fuses and they all look good, I checked the battery ground and a few grounds still in the bay but to no avail.
If anyone has any suggestions or ideas PLEASE let me know.
Re: Reverse battery, no power after replacement of fuse
The relocation kit might have a fuse inline somewhere. Are you getting battery voltage at the fuse box? You looked at the fuses or tested them for continuity?
Re: Reverse battery, no power after replacement of fuse
My FIL is dropping off his multimeter tomorrow after work, as far as a fuse inline, i suppose I'd have to pull the carpet, which isn't the worse thing to happen
Re: Reverse battery, no power after replacement of fuse
Well if you can verify voltage at the fuse box then it is making it from the battery so need to tear the car apart looking for one. Once you have the multi-meter you can test all your fuses and trace the voltage from the battery to see where you are loosing it.
Re: Reverse battery, no power after replacement of fuse
If there were in in-line fuse it should be within a few feet of the battery. As GolNat said though check at the fuse box to see if it's making it that far.
Re: Reverse battery, no power after replacement of fuse
I pulled the trim and carpet and I did not find a fuse, however, i did find THIS (see attachment) going under the dash coming from the same battery cable. I put the multimeter up to it and it read, I didn't write down how it read. So, should my next step to look at my ecu/ECM or tear down the dash and follow this?
Re: Reverse battery, no power after replacement of fuse
I believe that is a "sketchy connection along that wire". Looks like the a cable for the relocation kit was too short and they had to add on? Bare copper showing on a battery connector flopping around under the dash is bad.
