Civic 2000LX Connect new batt, horn blows!Hello Folks, this is my first time here. I acquired this car in 2014 and it's been problem-free, till just today.
The old battery finally died, so while installing the new batt, the horn starts blowing as soon as I start tightening the cable.
I feel stupid, and doubting my focus as there's been a lot of distractions here all at once.
This is a reverse polarity battery, since the posts are against the firewall, but one of the cables wouldn't reach without my cutting it's retainer, also there's a red cap on the rubber cover of what would be the negative post- positive is on the left- for the life of me, I was sure the posts were next to the firewall. The telling question ; The horn wouldn't be blowing AT ALL if the battery was backwards, right?
Now, getting past this; I have a car alarm, but it doesn't sound- just the horn. It chirped a bit while disconnecting, it doesn't utilize the car horn.
The guy at the dealer said it must be the factory setting (alarm?) and locking and unlocking my driver door twice should cut it off. It didn't.
Further confusing is the fact there are 3 different diagrams showing the location of the fusebox online, none of which resembles mine. I have no manual.
Incidentally, this is an automatic sedan (four door).
I understand if I locate the fuse, it will disable my brakelights and horn, but the dealer said it may lock the tranny, then he told me how to unlock it on the shift lever (P,N,R,D3,D4) in a location I can't find. He said it's what tow truck drivers use to free the transmission. "Stick the key or a flat-edged screwdriver into it"... (Into WHAT?) He said it was ON the shifter- all I see there is a small recess that looks like it's holding a fastener that's on both sides of the shift stem. Others say it's "near the shifter". Can anyone please tell me exactly where this thing is?
I'm downtown in a crappy urban area, old, fixed income, but if I can get this baby to roll, I can take it to a garage 2 blks from me. I just wish I had a manual and some idea where to go from here. Any clues greatly appreciated!!!

A) they sold you the wrong battery (reversed posts)
B) just disconnect the horn, probably have to remove the bumper. I think that may be a sign that the clock spring is bad
C) for the shift interlock override there should be a little plastic cover you pop out just to the left of the shifter. Or the cover is gone and you can stick a screwdriver or key in and then move the shifter
