n hAftermarket Horn Question

How many amps can an aftermarket horn have before it will blow the fuse. I want a FIAMM horn not an air horn. Just want to tap the 12V wire onto the new horn and thats it. By the way, where is the horn fuse??

You don't need to change the fuse with the Fiamm Horn. It will have enough protection with the stock fuse. Be sure to have enough clearance when you put back your front bumper. There's a DIY for the Horn but I don't remember where it's at.

I found the link but it's dead, here it is anyway, there's a message that comes up Dead Link

Maybe try pm'ing toastyghosty to still see if he has the DIY lying around somewhere.

Hey d00d

I have the fiamm horn, and it works great!

nice and loud, without going the airhorn route. Basically, i was embarrassed of our limp-wristed sounding horn.

you have to take off the bumper, but in all, it was about a ten minute job! (I've taken my bumper off way too many times now).

good luck!

Yep, you can make a direct replacement for the stock horn with the FIaam horn. Get the really loud one Highway Blaster. Wires right up where the old horn goes.

I don't know what it is, but it won't blow, so you're safe.

I have the lo-note freeway blaster, honestly it really doesn't seem that loud. If you are talking about running both your Honda horn and the FIAMM horn, this will be very difficult since you will need the right note A, B, C. It is like harmonizing.

IDQcivic should not be trusted
I've had 2 FIAMM freeway blasters, I bought the first one installed it and it sounded loud at first but then a couple days later it sounded like a dead goose or something, so I bought another one (it was only $13) and installed it, it was pretty loud, then the same thing happened and now I just said screw it and have this crappy sounding horn. What's the deal? Anyone else have this problem? Laterz....

The problem I had with my FIAMM was it was a bit too big to fit right where the old horn was since I have some aftermarket fogs. I had to turn mine around (horn facing the car) so it didnt sound 'fuzzy'. I gotta make a custom bracket for it so it can face back outwards.

Got my Hella Triple Air Horn Put in last week. 2 Problems though that I need advice with;
1) The guy installed it and left the OE horn hooked up, so they both sound ( I know kinda corny right) will this cause iether my OE horn or relay in steering wheel to burn out, do to the added current strain.

2) The horn stopped working the next day, granted it was raining like crazy ( monsoon type shyt) it worked on off the whole day then stopped. I had it installed behind the passenger side of the front bumper. I even gave the guy a copy of Grey's horn install. he came back and said that Grey had the wiring all wrong and that he (idoit installer) had wired it the correct way. Also he ( idoit installer) felt that the relay provided by hella was crap and subsituted his own ( which was supposed to be better than hella's) . Anyway back to the story when I took it back to them they told me that the ( one day old) compressor was burned out and that it was not the relay cause the relay was powering up. So they speculated that 3 horns is to much for hella's single compressor to push and they could get me a heavy duty compressor ( yeah right ) I told them to order me another kit and replace my hella compressor with the another hella.

3) when I horn sounded does your car ( floor board ) vibrate ? Is there something that can be done about this. I saked my boy about it and he said that is normal with Air horns and that mine is actually no that bad of a rattle/vibration. But I can't believe that is true, cuase VW's, Porsche's, Audi's have air horns and theirs don't vibrate. Do you think he mounted it wrong or maybe needs some kinda bushing. also is the Air horns or the Compressor that is vibrating.

Isolate the horn where it won't vibrate whatever it is vibrating now. Not sure, but I figure those little compressors are just a vibrating diaphragm that compresses air for the horns.

I guess it depends on where your horns and compressor are mounted. I don't feel any vibrations, but I haven't asked my passengers if they feel anything.

See my Member's Rides page to see how my FIAMMs are mounted.
