horn isn't intimidating at all
I guess this really isn't a technical problem. It's just that when I beep the horn sounds way too cheery and friendly. Do you guys find this too?
Yup, not mean like an American car. Dodge Neons, Ford Mustangs and Mercury Cougars have pretty mean sounding horns. This probably isn't a crucial issue but I agree with you and it's been this way for a long time.

Is it expensive to get the horn replaced? Not that I think it's worth it. I'm asking out of curiousity. It would be great to have a horn that actually sounds like a horn and not like the roadrunner (*meep, meep*).

toasyghosty's DIY HORN REPLACEMENT
Haha yeah, I never try to beep if I can help it. If I need to get my point across, I'll yell, give the finger, whatever..but our horn...
hmmm, well, I've owned intimidating vehicles before.... a 1991 Crown Vic Police Package in DARK BLUE with flowmasters on it, no speed limiter, and a calibrated 140 MPH speedo to back it up - that intimidated almost EVERYONE in sight....(It had roughly 4 horns)
a jeep grand cherokee v-8 with a 3" exhaust that ran a 15.3@89 that was intimidating too...........(It sounded like a freight train when you hit those little buttons)
it's been my experience that the civics horn pretty well matches it's 2500 pound super fly-weight image........ (Beep Beep)

I guess the wimpy sounding horn is a Honda tradition, they're never going to change it, but no one says that you can't change it....was thinking about getting that "Dukes of Hazard" sounding horn on the General Lee.
The civic horn is weak.. the best replacement is a 2-3 trumpet air horn. The horns that play sounds are pretty weak too.. they get attention but they dont scare the hell out of anyone. I wanna mount a real truck horn in a car one day but I heard you need like a huge engine and air tank and everything.
Haha.... I feel your pain guys. I hit the horn one time the day I brought it home from the lot....... I haven't hit it since then. Our horn sounds like the offspring of a Smurf and a Chipmunk.

Dude, just leave Smurfs out of this...maybe a chipmunk and a cat just before it gets hit by a Mack truck, but DEFINATELY not w/ a Smurf.
Ok, maybe I watch cartoons too much, but oh well.

I'm going to try and install the horn from my 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I rolled.... For some dumb reason I kept the horn.... I guess the reason finally showed itself... I'll let you know how it turns out.

<< How do the FIAMM freeway blaster horns sound? Does anyone know? >>
I just put one in...It's a big improvement, but doesn't sound like a big rig as advertised on the package...For the 6 bux I paid for it is definetly a big
I picked up a freeway blaster type horn at Checker for eight bucks. It took me about 30 minutes to put it on and it is a big improvement, actually sounds like a car now instead of a scooter or something.
