yeah I had the cover off and ran the car in idle. Also rotated engine CCW by hand from the crank pulley and nothing was binding or grinding.

ok I found a local shop that ONLY works on Honda/Acura and I explained the situation. They ended up suggesting solid motor mounts. They said that since my head and block were both shaved down it sounds like the exhaust was binding up when the engine moved too much. 🤷‍♂️ I swapped over to solid motor mounts but now I’m getting insane amounts of chassis vibration. Can feel it in my steering wheel and pedals ALOT. So I figured at least I know the issue now maybe I can find a combination of solid and OEM mounts that can cause less vibrations on the chassis.

I think the main vibration is coming from the rear mount so I’m gonna swap that back to OEM and see what happens. Trying one mount at a time until I get something that is comfortable.

I’m still messing with it. Trying different combinations of solid mounts with OEM mounts to see if I can get something that will work. So far it seems I need the solid on the transmission side more than anything. When I remove the solid mounts on transmission side the clank noise comes back.

so no luck. Way too much vibration with any combination of solid motor mount. Anyone have any experience using motor mount inserts to help strengthen the OEM polyurethane mounts?

i know one torque converter bolt is longer than the rest. I’ll replace it and see if anything changes.

Hi all I’m back after many years of hearing this clunk I’ve finally found the issue. The bolts to my rack and pinion were loose all these years and caused the clunk every time I accelerated. 🤦‍♂️
